Aye, I will agree with that. Thinking about what I said last night I would go as far to say the only one that really holds a candle to the West Highlands is Kyle, then a fair way down after those two would be the S&C, Highland ML, Tyne Valley etc. Some would have you believe the S&C is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I find its beauty more in how long the scenery is maintained (well over a few dozen miles) and the occasional beauty spot than constantly jawdropping scenery a la Fort William and Kyle.

When in Scotland I picked up a book produced by First Scotrail advertising some of the scenic lines. It's somewhere I would quite happily repeat my May holiday in that area.

West Highlands on the sleeper is well worth the trip, although I would imagine the new sleeper stock when it arrives will be sealed up (no openable windows in the doors)

Only new coverage, bar micro-gricing, for me is York Place to Edinburgh Airport on 9th October 2014. I predict no new coverage of any variety (except micro-gricing on 31st October/1st November 2014) until the Sweden trip 14th-17th November 2014 There may also be new coverage in December, the trip there planned to be 14th-16th December 2014 but that's not booked yet.

Very little left to get now, although those gaps in the Huddersfield area in particular are confusing me. Seems weird to get to Stalybridge but not carry on to Huddersfield, I'm guessing cross-Pennine trips do not feature much for me. Lost count of my cross-Pennine trips!

Oxford to Bicester must be a really annoying gap, but to be honest pre-closure you've missed nothing. Dull as ditchwater line, as boring as Aylesbury to Princes Risborough is! Hopefully it'll be a quicker and less tortuous journey when the new link with the Chiltern Main Line opens, or at the very least when East-West Rail finally arrives!

I got to Stalybridge on the Friday I did the Metrolink, arrived there from Stockport and departed heading towards Victoria (if that makes sense)

The part missing between Stocksmoor & Barnsley was due to the forum's west yorkshire challenge. Hopefully both will be covered in a couple weeks time.

The part missing between Pontefract & Halifax should hopefully be covered this Saturday as I'm on the Grand Central service to/from Bradford, leaving just the part of Leeds-Selby line track where South Milford is on.

Easy track to score (i.e. not a once-twice a day parliamentary service) and I missed the Oxford - Bicester line before it closed for rebuilding.

Some scouse vegetaion and forays into Lancashire produced much winning track on Saturday! Late EMT into Liverpool on the morning meant I was put back an hour and so missed Miseryfail line to Ormskirk (Hunts Cross bagged instead) but 6 507/508s picked up waiting for the next Wigan train between half 8 and half 9.

Effed a Lancashire rover down to Wilmslow in order to cover the Heald Green North - South line before heading across to liverpool on the required line through Widnes. Leapt up to Preston and FINALLY got Colne out the way before heading to Wigan and over the required Southport and Kirkby lines. Nipped all the way round to Lime Street via North Western and bagged Southport, Kirkby and Hunts Cross with Miseryfail before heading home.

A full Johnston Press / Northern £17.50 weekend offer next weekend so that could potentially see off (calculated) over 90% off my Northern network required mileage Ellesmere Port, Clitheroe-Hellifield, Buxton and the like being particular bug bears...

Living reasonably close to (and a regular user of) Metrolink I'm ashamed to say, I've never done the whole network yet. Think I'll do that once these Northern Rail rovers expire

Hi there, I found the "click here" that the OP supplied with the original thread but when I click on it it only opens up another tab and I have no idea how to work with it.

Think I may stick with my railway atlas and highlight the line I travelled on and underline the stations where I embark/disembark trains.

Right click on the link and select 'save link as' (or words to that effec) and save the file where ever you want on your computer. Then right click on the file on your computer and select edit. This should open the file in paint where you should be able to edit it using the functions in paint.

EDIT: Mind you, that does beg to ask what one counts as 100% done. If just the heavy rail lines, then yes I am almost there. Including light rail, just one PSUL curve and Blackpool Trams' line to do. Including preserved lines, then nowhere near done!

Definitely! Have a lot of PSUL bits to do, so far from 100% in terms of the difficulty of getting those curves etc :P

Did a trip up to the North East a couple of weeks ago and coloured in a couple of bits plus the T&W metro. Also filled in the new bits of Manchester Trams too. Scotland is the next trip, will all be blue North of Shotton after that trip. Not that I will have done it all, there will still be the odd chord here and there that's too small to appear on a map of this scale.

How do you add the blue to colours? when i try to fill the line. it fills other lines ive not been on?
