Here's my latest offering, again including RoI and NI. Note the substantial improvement north of the border!

Another notable new stretch is the CrossCountry route between Birmingham and Peterborough. There are still two "islands" though...

You wanna get over to Eire and get some more colour over there too, well worth the effort. €110 for 4 days of travel is an absolute steal, when I made a rough calculation that on on-the-day tickets would have cost me around €300 all in for the four days, that Trekker ticket is a bargain!

Not added new track to my UK coverage map for quite some time now, and if I don't change my mind again by Friday that'll be all changed by the middle of June. With NI conquered by the end of May and Eire planned to be finished by the autumn (may not go to the SVR diesel gala after all, despite having booked time off especially...), the rest of the world lies in wait!

I saved my template that I was working on a a GIF, however in MO Picture Manager accidently exported a copy as a JPG. Now whenever I try to open the original GIF to edit it, it's always in a much lower resolution, the colouring in Paint are different, and the Fill tool no longer works. Anything I can do? The downloadable template and current template I'm working on are both the same resolutions, etc.

This is going to be quite boring; in my defence I've done some lines on many different services. Also interestingly I've done Leicester to Derby, but never Birmingham to Derby intentionally, only when the Brum-Leics trains were diverted that way to reverse on Sundays. Similarly I've only done Cov-Nuneaton when that guy was in a car full of gas cyllinders outside New Street and had to make alternate means. Newport was for a Uni open day, but I never found the Uni (and the locals were no help, even the bus driver that went into the Uni told us he didn't know if he went there.)

EDIT - forgot the bit of the Youghal branch that's reopened now as well.

PS my map has a few bits added that are missing from the original - did it quite a while ago so can't remember all of them - the Swansea district line was one though.

Am I allowed to ask why you're missing the section between Penmaenmawr and Llandudno Junction?

You are. I use the filler tool to complete sections in Paint. When I need the Pen tool to create a block (e.g. as is need to separate the Holyhead and Llandudno lines nearby) I tend to forget it and move on elsewhere. Rest assured it'll be rectified

Well I finally got around to updating my map, and apart from one really annoying gap in North Wales, which I intend to sort out at the earliest opportunity, it looks great!

Virtually, there's about 3 bits on SET that are PSUL moves, plus one SWT PSUL move which rarely seems to actually produce (Point Pleasant will always be one of those bits that annoys me it seems). There's also PSUL moves elsewhere in England, some of them on light rail though.

I intend to make seriously good progress with light and preserved rail before I venture beyond Europe in 2013. Should be finishing off the Sheffield Supertram on July 2nd, Metrolink sometime in August and I would hope to do the Tyne and Wear Metro sometime in the near future too.

Got done Elephant & Castle-Denmark Hill and Ladywell-St Johns (avoiding Lewisham) today, as bits of track I know I've but so long ago I can't remember. Also completed today was the Croydon Tramlink (I just needed Beckenham Jn-Sandilands and the Elmers End branch), Edmonton Green-Cheshunt and Kenton-Wembley Central (I could have got Harrow & Wealdstone done to, had I not screwed up the interchange from Northwick Park-Kenton).

All in all (minus PSULs etc, though I've done most), the only lines I now need fully or partially in the London and Greater London area are:

You ain't missing much with that lot in terms of interest. Be forewarned, I mention it in my trip report but I'm some days away from that bit yet (about to do day 4, meant to do that last night but got busy after work) so I'll mention it now. If you get on a train at Slade Green (or before it) that's due to terminate at Barnehurst before carrying on towards Lewisham, expect a lengthy wait on the curve. The first time I had to suffer that there was no announcement or anything and I wondered what had gone wrong ahead. 13 minutes we sat there! I had to do that same experience later in the day, at least that time there was an announcement to say about the long wait.

Ally Pally to Stevenage via Hertford North isn't much of interest, and Beckenham Junction to Crystal Palace I did last week and was incredibly boring. Kenton to Harrow and Wealdstone (do I assume correctly you've done H+W to Watford Junction via Watford High Street before? Or as this is mostly outside the zones it's not mentioned?) is the best out of that bunch as at least you've got stuff zipping up and down the WCML alongside you.

Some of the lines that have been used recently are the depot avoiding line (although this wasn't advertised), and going wrong line between Manors and Byker due to engineering work. Coming up soon will be Prudhoe Street crossover between Monument and Haymarket.

Don't worry as a lot of engineering work is planned in the next few years, so the rare lines will keep on coming.

For me, I've now done every line over which there is a Monday - Friday advertised passenger service including every curve and chord. (see PSUL) Network Rail, LU, LO, DLR, T&W, NGT, Sheffield, Metrolink, Tramlink, Glasgow, Midland Metro and Blackpool.

Coming next is probably South London Line or Droylsden extension.

Aye I could do with adding some more freight lines I've covered to my map. Some extremely good looking coverage there, and to have done all that coverage on light rail too is good going. I've lost interest in light rail for the moment, preferring for now to wait until my Irish bash at the end of the month. Gonna be a low mileage month for me...

How do you colour in the lines, is there an option on the template or do you have to use separate software to colour in the lines?

I download it as a gif (never jpg!), open it in Paint, zoom and use the Brush function to block off lines which I've done, which I then use Fill to colour in. Quite a labourious task but strangely fun.

my first attempt at getting some serious coverage done. before last thursday most of my journeys had beem WCML SPT-EUS, plus odd diversions around the West Mids and Paddington - Reading- Birmingham.
£80 Freedom of North West, plus £18.50 return Lockerbie - Edinburgh; £2 adv single Hexham - Newcastle and £18.00 adv single Newcastle - Leeds being good value.

Managed to cover some of the more obscure lines - Clitheroe to Hellifield, Heysham Port, Ellesmere Port - Helsby.

Here is my attempt using Paint. There are a lot of lines which I know I have done which are no longer in existance thanks to Dr Beeching - Most in the South West. You may notice lots of gaps, but looking back on the finished product I think there is a lot that I can be proud to have covered especially one from the St. Ives Branch line as my base.

I am a bit confused as to my coverage South of the Thames but I'll look for a decent diagram I can convert and use for more detail around the South East.

I'd like suggestions as to where I should cover during my next UK visit given that I'd have 3-4 days to move around the nation.
