Definitely not rather than probably not.

In respect of the legislation the term "suspended strike" is a nonsense. It's cancelled. Any revised strike date is a new strike date, with minimum 14 days notice required.
I thought that was highly likely but wasn't 100% sure hence my cautious wording.

I would imagine there will be no detail given until the result of the next ballot.
Personally I think the devil is in the detail with this agreement, can't accept it without knowing how this/next year's deals will be done.

For me personally the ability to hopefully from what it sounds like to negotiate on a toc to toc basis on 23/24 pay deal and T&Cs would be a huge deal for us that’s the only thing I’d say the government has moved on.
pay and all the rest seems the same, but rather then a blanket right all guards having there terms change and platform staff because as previously mention some tocs already have Sunday in there working week for example
I don't really see how TOC level pay talks work, given the TOCs aren't really businesses any more and are all being controlled from the centre by proxy.

It makes some sense to separate pay and conditions, as long as the latter can still be imposed, which was how Southern DOO strikes finally got resolved. DOO has existed for 40yrs now, it makes no sense to allow another 18 months of DOO strikes on SWR when DOO has existed for decades across the footbridge at Waterloo East.

Some TOCs have Sunday working and DOO already so it doesn't make sense to have a national dispute around those issues. But the guiding mind of GBR shouldn't lose sight of the fact the railway needs reliable and robust Sunday services, and has for many years, but currently has neither.

Reliable and robust Sunday services here in Greater Anglia land. Yesterday we ran several ‘relief’ services on the Norwich-Cambridge route again and at my depot still had spare drivers and volunteers not needed 8-)

The TOCs aren’t really businesses any more? Are you sure about that? It’ll certainly be news to the shareholders of the owning groups, someone had better write to them!

It’s a nonsensical statement.

Actually the Southern dispute was resolved primarily because DOO had already been agreed with ASLEF many years prior, and was in the drivers’ contracts. I detect that you just like the idea of conditions being unilaterally imposed.

You’ll find there are also still many trains running through Waterloo East which carry guards.

Some TOCs have Sunday working and DOO already so it doesn't make sense to have a national dispute around those issues. But the guiding mind of GBR shouldn't lose sight of the fact the railway needs reliable and robust Sunday services, and has for many years, but currently has neither.

And, as above, many TOCs have robust Sunday working and have done for years.

Overall another post which shows how little you really understand about the railway’s ownership structure and the operational aspects you weigh in to discuss.

Whilst this is true, they’re not ‘guarding’ at Waterloo East!

No, but they’re still on the trains, and they will be ‘guarding’ later in the journey.

Waterloo East is (AFAIK) still the only place where Southeastern coastal drivers dispatch themselves with monitors. DOO is in SE drivers’ contracts, so there is potential for a GTR style situation there, as and when they get mainline stock with on board monitors.

Ouch! I'd hope we could could all appreciate that not all members have the same level of understanding and not shoot them down...

Generally I’d agree, but some posters are perhaps a little too opinionated on subjects they don’t understand, show little interest in learning about them, and repeatedly bring up topics such as DOO (which isn’t relevant to this thread) to garner a reaction.

I occasionally use GA on my trips to the office and they feel like one of the best run TOCs around at the moment. Nice trains, friendly staff, very few cancellations on the bits I use.

Strood when diverted via the north kent and swanley when on a semi fast via Chatham even with a guard on board. No DOO agreement beyond Gillingham.

Pleased to hear it mate. Yes, well run, new train fleet & one of those where terms & conditions benefit both staff & passengers when it comes to weekend working.

I will second that from recent experiences.

Did someone mention on here that there was going to be more discussions on pay talks happening today?
Based on the chain #77 -> #78 -> #85 it looks like it's ASLEF today.

== Doublepost prevention - post automatically merged: ==

#77
Out of interest, where has the ASLEF dispute got to?
#78
Another meeting this week, I believe.

By all accounts it is going in a similar direction to the RMT dispute, so I would expect a resolution along the same lines.
#85
I thought it is 4th April, next week

Yep. Expecting a text from them any moment saying.....meeting again in 2 weeks

Hopefully moving forward. Getting bored of it now. Just give us 5% this year & 5% backdated to April 2022 & it’ll be sorted.

The lack of any comms in regards to how today has gone is frustrating! (Unless they’re still in talks lol)

I agree. I had a very pleasant week a year or so ago, and look forward to coming again. During that week there was no late running or cancellations, and the new trains are very comfortable and clean.

The GS,AGS & EC president met with the RDG yesterday. As yet, no formal offer has been made. Further talks are scheduled for next week. We will keep you informed of any developments.

Seems a pity after earlier hope.... but most on our group chats at work think it's all just re RDG stringing the RMT and ASLEF along.

Sadly the exception not the rule. In many places Sundays only have a train service if people voluntarily work.
