Who's on £20k??

So the answer is no!
I said around £22k, I don't know the exact figure. However, is there really much difference between 20-22k? It's still a very low salary regardless of the industry average.

It's 10% and the difference between being above or below minimum wage!

U can’t keep doing a minimum underpin - unfortunately it leads to compression in the pay bands and that in itself causes problems.

As rail staff are classed as public sector workers now it won’t get much better in future years in terms of percentage increases.

When can we expect to get the money ? September or October pay ?
I need to buy new flip flops.

As it seems to be an e-ballot, things should move quite quickly. I reckon October.

What figure would be reasonable, though? Nobody realistically expects 10%, surely?
And inflation in the relevant 12 months was I think less than 10%
Do all staff work a 35 hour week? If so minimum wage is just over £20k. If they're on a 40 hour week then it's nearly £24k. MW went up by 10% in April so it's possible that the entry level staff have already had an increase this year

4.75% for those on 22k when inflation was over 10% last year alone is a joke.
It is worth remembering that at several TOCs, these sort of lower paid roles are often contracted out to suppliers who have absolutely no qualms with paying the bare minimum wage, virtually no employment rights beyond statute and questionable management structures and attitudes. No very valuable railway pension, no staff travel. Certainly unlikely to have inflation pay rises.

Yet, they are still normally far better off than (say) a cleaner working on a non-rail contract. They still get hundreds of applications for these roles.

To be fudged off by an uncaring management again?

All frontline staff get is excuse after excuse. Not good enough for negotiations that have dragged on far too long!
Yep, and after all this time, the offer won't match that of TOCs and Drivers.

Tbh I'd personally prefer to have the option to take someone else as a priv+1 a few times a year than have free network wide travel myself, or have a few free day rovers to give to friends/family to visit me.

Partners/spouses and children are already eligible for the TOC priv card and can enjoy 75% off fares, some TOCs also offer 'family and friends' cheap or free tickets that staff can give to whom they choose.

But now* it's GB Rail it could be different.

* the process has started at least.

Maybe, but I'm not holding my breath.

Unfortunately, yes. My previous TOC had me on 19k at the end of last year when I started with them. My role was readvertised this year at 20k..
Could we enquire as to roughly what the role was? No need to name the TOC!

And remember that there'll be apprentices on £16,500 pa. or less...

Just thought it worth mentioning, the email says this isn't the actual proposal from the DfT, they've effectively received a 'letter of intent' via email to say the DfT intend to make these pay proposals once "cross-department approvals are given". So it could be some time yet before we are given the e-referendum on it. I think we will be looking at December's pay at the earliest. We are still waiting to receive the 'actual' proposal which (from a letter of intent to an actual proposal) may or may not change.

I have now received an email from the Department for Transport stating their intention to send a pay proposal.. This will be supplied as soon as cross-department approvals are given.
Once a full set of proposals have been received from the DfT, the Union's NEC has instructed me to hold an e-referendum of you and your colleagues to have your say on the above proposals.

If it goes to ballot shortly I'd expect either Oct/Nov should it be accepted (I'd be surprised if it wasn't)
Plenty of time for Christmas then which will be a nice boost. I have no skin in the game but will be glad when the railways are back to normal - whatever normal is these days.

Yeah hopefully! Just need the deal in writing sorted so it can be put to ballot now.

Pretty sure the December ballot was only open for around 10-14 days and as it was done online the results were quick. Want to say it was confirmed on the Friday, my TOC confirmed it would be in the next pay which was 2 weeks after. So I moved very quick

Are we to assume that the proposed meeting that was to take place this week (for NR) is now not happening ?
Assurances keep being given, but then nothing happens.
I wonder if this was a Conservative administration, if the RMT would be so subdued.
Roll on another (eye roll) week

Or they just feel they’re negotiating with a government that is receptive to finding a solution, and is acting in good faith, so there’s no need for bombast and brinkmanship?

Deals have been agreed in principle with ASLEF and the RMT on the TOC side, so it’s hard to see why the same shouldn’t happen on the NR side.

They may be planning on seeking some new co-operation to improve matters generally.

So another week has passed and still no formal offer has been made…
It's not going to look good if above inflation offers are made when the government are under pressure for removing the pensioners winter fuel payments.
