So what will operate the RHTT services down the metropolitan line and towards aylesbury where tripcocks are needed? Previously there was 4 Freightliner 66’s fitted with tripcocks to do this route.
20901 and 20905 have been doing GBRf staff training for this purpose…

0Z56 is scheduled to run again tomorrow on a round trip from Barnetby Sidings via the Scarborough branch from York.

It's scheduled as a light loco, so is this likely to be a 56 again? Is the clue in the headcode..?

It's been ages since I've seen an original, non-class 69 on the mainline!

This is 37405. It's doing two round trips then taking RHTT wagons to Coleham on Wednesday.

I cant vouch for what traction or routes colas are running.
gb rail freight are I think are running the following tractionout of the following depots :
Tonbridge west yard: 69 and 73
tonbridge east yard mpv’s. I think it’s a partnership with weed free.
totton (southampton routes) 66’s
kings norton 66’s Think they’ll have mpv’s as well.
Toton (Nottingham / Derby) should be 66’s
peterborough and doncaster 66’s
wigan mpv’s

think they are also running the glasgow and Edinburgh routes. Im not not sure what traction is running out of there.
I think Totton and Southampton routes will be MPV’s as they have a specialist yard in Totton now for those, only time I think we get anything remotely loco hauled is the SITT with top n tail GBRf 66’s

as mentioned its 37405, its also on tomorrows (26th) 0Z56, makes sense as 56s are not permitted on the 3J51 circuit, also in this case the headcode is far from a clue, 0Z56/57/58 has been running on and off for a few weeks on the Humberside routing always using 70009 or 70816

Does anyone know when the rhtt season kicks off this year? Looks like leaves are starting to fall already.

29th September for the Chiltern ones, running through to the end of the Summer timetable on 13th December. Though LU leaf fall season on the Met is extended to 11th January.

I just noticed the signs have changed at Wigan to GB Railfreight Seasonal Maintenance Depot. It was a rather tatty looking DB sign previously.

Previously ran by DRS, the North-West/East RHTT's are now in the hands of Colas Rail. This been 3J11 Carlisle Yard to Carlisle Yard via S&C, Carnforth, Blackburn, Preston to name a few, 3S77 Carlisle Yard to Nunthorpe, 3S78 Nunthorpe to Carlisle Yard and finally 3S95 Carlisle Yard to Carlisle Yard via Dumfries (MFO).

Sorry to ask again, has there been a definitive answer as to what's running the 3S20/3S21 etc. runs please?
there is no definitive answer but its looking like both 3S20-29 and 3S11-15 might be Colas 56s this year, maybe, hopefully.

Looks like 3J51 and 3S71 wont be the only 37/97 operated RHTTs this year as 37419 and 37425 have been placed in charge of 3S93 from Carstairs taking over from 66846 and 66849.

Thank you :) 56s will do from a personal point of view, much better than the dulcet tones of a 66 powering up after crossing Burley Viaduct.

well for now expect the usual 66s, 66846 and 66849 are now freed up being replaced by 37s and 66847 has been active around Doncaster, i too really hope that at the very least 56s are used but its still very very possible that the usual Colas sheds will appear.

37099 and 37254 have been dispatched on 0Z37 to York Thrall today (18th), looks like thats 3J51s locos sorted, there is 0Z56 from Barnetby Sdgs on Saturday but my best guess is thats the one or more or even all three 56s going to pickup a set and take it to Coleham on 6Z71.

So will the Airedale lines (3S24) be colas 66s again this year...?

Colas operated 66s yes, but they may well use hired in 66/0s from DB or 66/5s
from Freightliner rather than their own 66/8s - it's a bit too early to tell right now,
I'm afraid.

I imagine the fact that one of the Carstairs based 37/4s has come to grief already
after only three runs will make Colas extremely reluctant to use 'classic' motive power
on their RHTTs any more than they absolutely have to!
