Reactivating Platform Lengths

I wondered if there are examples on the UK network where platforms have been operationally shortened but not physically so (e.g., barriers partway down the physical length), only to be 'reactivated' to close to their original length as rolling stock has grown longer.
I was thinking about this today in the context of Patricroft and Eccles, both of which, according to data I found, have operational platform lengths of 124m but longer physical lengths currently in a state of comparative disrepair. Both of them look to have had some extension work already but still fall short of what I suspect would be the longest operational consist using them of 2x Class 323s or 331/0s which would come to a shade under 150m. A glance at the satellite view on Google Maps would suggest sufficient physical length so why not reactivate it?

EDIT: You can even see the unused platform length at Eccles and Patricroft on streetview.

Think some of the Bristol area suburbans (Lawrence Hill, Bedminster?) may have done.

I think both platforms on Parson Street (the station after Bedminster if travelling towards Taunton from Bristol) were also re-extended by roughly the length of a carriage.

The original platforms are still in place, so it was just a matter of removing the old surface (paving slabs?) and replacing it with tarmac.

The metal fence to stop the public wandering around the disused part of the platform was also moved up to the new boundary.

Would love to see 4 tracking reinstated here.

Were some of the existing Goblin platforms lengthened within their existing footprint during the electrification works?

Ince is being re-lengthened currently to fit 6 car 323s
Hindley and Westhoughton are also getting extensions, but I think some new section is included.

I think also a number of Atherton line platforms were lengthened a few years ago, using previously closed sections.

Bedminster was only temporarily extended to allow Class 255s to turn back during the Bristol TM blockade a few years ago. After completing of the work the platform extension returned to its previous usable length.

The up platform at Rowley Regis was never fenced off.

Normanton's platforms have been extended along the derelict sections of the island platform recently.

Shipley. Platforms shortened but subsequently extended to their original lengths to accommodate re-instated London to Bradford Forster Square services. Platform 3 (bi-directional) for some years now but Platform 4 is about to receive the same treatment so Bradford-bound trains will call there.
