That's another blackout I've experienced, the 3rd in just over 12 months.

Not entirely sure what caused this one, but not getting enough sleep, staying up for 15+ hours at a time & running myself utterly ragged while doing so most likely brought it on this time. Need to get on top of this issue, otherwise it'll end up killing me before my 25th birthday.

Oh dear. Well I know it's a cliche but life's a marathon not a sprint Strathclyder.
Twenty five is pretty young to be experiencing the symptoms of burnout. :)
Have a day off and get some sleep, because everything always seems better and easier to deal with when you're not tired...

Indeed, but having a day off nowadays is almost impossible for me. Something has gotta give, though. Thanks, BTW. :)

Does anyone reckon I could make it from Euston (P2) to St Pancras (P11) in 17 minutes?
I'm trying to work that out for Saturday, so as I know whether I can make Maidstone by 9...

It's do-able provided:

1) Your train into Euston is on time.

2) Your train into Euston doesn't get stuffed into one of the higher numbered platforms instead.

3) You can run like lightning and absolutely know the way beforehand - it's signposted these days, which does help a bit, but it still helps to know the way first.

4) You don't try going via Euston Road - you need to be able to cut directly across at St P from the side entrance.


I certainly wouldn't plan on the connection.

I've made it between the Moor Street & New Street in Birmingham in 5 minutes, so I'm certainly up to the run; I'm assuming that the side entrance is on Midland Road?
I'm arriving at 07:36, I'm not expecting the station to be that busy on a Saturday (famous last words!) Also, I'm assuming there's no problems with the tube planned that day?

Moor Street and New Street are a bit closer to each other than Euston and St P and with a straighter road alignment between the two.

Yes, the side entrance is on Midland Road by Brill Place.

Don't try the tube between the two; that'll actually take longer than walking / running it and probably even involve a higher number of paces!

The secret is not to just keep the first year's issue but to keep the new ones every year. As part of a complete collection each coin is worth more than it would be by itself.

Apparently, according to a school friend who has a dad who works in a bank, the new £1 coins cost more than a pound to make...

I find that surprising as my understanding is that 5p coins cost less than 5p to make. The 2p is about breakeven.

I have one of the new coins too and they look pretty cool. Not planning to keep any though especially given how quick the new fivers went into circulation. Haven't seen an old one for ages!

That's not surprising. At the rate that fivers circulate I would imagine there are very few of the old ones about now.

I'm a bit miffed about the new fivers. Our local post office was distributing the Clydesdale ones for a bit. I noticed on ebay that some people were selling "uncirculated" fivers for anything up to £80 a go.

I should have grasped the nettle when I had the chance.
