Interestingly my Dad had a Lada Riva estate, that met it's end when it lost an argument with a road sign. Folded like a crisp packet.

From the way those Ladas grip the road their tyres must be teflon coated slicks.
Strangely enough the Lada Niva 4x4 gained a bit of a cult following over here by off-roading types due to their simplicity and the ability to repair them with a hammer and a bit of baler twine.
I assume some kind of roll cage would have been desirable.

I was always under the impression that Ladas were fairly solid. A friend of mine wrote off his Metro when he ran into the back of one.
Mind you, that probably says more about the Metro than the Lada.

Speaking of spare parts, Swan were good enough to send me a free spare lid for a coffee bean grinder, having courteously kept me on a waiting list for a replacement part.
Given the fact that I broke the last one by dropping it on the floor whilst in a hurry to make coffee, meaning it wasn't their fault in the slightest, this is most excellent customer service.

Slightly different but my (fairly new) electric sander packed up when I was in the middle of a job at home once, I grumpily drove to B&Q and explained to one of the guys there who knew me quite well that I couldn't find the receipt and that the sander was rubbish. He took pity on me and said not to worry, just get another one off the shelf and I'll ring it through for you.
I actually got a slightly better one and it was only when I got home and found that the new one didn't work either that I realised that I'd blown the main fuse in the house due to making toast with my dodgy toaster.

Did you take the fuse back to the shop and say it was faulty?
Back on topic - I had my very first driving lesson in a Lada but I managed to keep it on the road and not hit any other vehicles. The problem only occurs in Russia because they have the steering wheel on the wrong side.
And lots of ice and Russians.
It was there when I bought the house, I tried to take the previous owner to court as the house was clearly faulty but the case was thrown out of court.

They must use the back door when they throw out cases because I often walk past the county court hoping to find a pile of cases but no luck so far.
Who's looking forward to their four day weekend this weekend? I'm on an early shift tomorrow and Saturday, then I've booked some time off until the 24th of April, so that more than makes up for it.
After Easter, I've decided I'm going to make more of an effort to get myself into shape with more regular exercise and eating more healthily. I'm going to make sure I stick to it this time as well.

Next weekend we're off to Woolacombe for the weekend too as Mrs C got us a deal from the paper in a mobile home in a holiday park which should be good. A photo of the beach below...

Sounds good that mate, hope you enjoy Woolacombe. I haven't got any major plans other than an overnight trip to North Wales next week to get the tracks I still need to clear. The beach looks lovely, might have to take a trip down there myself at some point.
Yeah they're not bad thanks mate, it's been great so far. My daughter is sleeping a lot better now, thankfully!

That's not what my plumber said.
Anyway, I wasn't even meant to have that bunny. A friend of mine smuggled it into my trolley in the Tescos in Crediton when I wasn't looking (just after I'd finished chatting to him, he'd tried to get four packets of Jammy Dodgers in there but I caught him). I got to the checkout and realised what he'd done, but to save face I bought it anyway even though I could see him smirking at me from aisle 17 (the biscuit and crisps aisle) as I rang it through, it was £3.50. I can tell you now it wasn't £3.50s worth of humour, more like 75p. And that's being generous.

Start of a 4 day weekend so naturally I end up waking up earlier than I was meant to!
I'm going to spend the weekend reinstalling Arch on the desktop methinks, Kubuntu and Neon are OK but it's not the same
On the bright side I'm now fairly sure that a pair of blue tits are nesting in the garden bird box.

Sounds about right, although I woke up at 11am - which is late for me and my body clock!
Got a uni assignment due for submission tonight which I have absolutely no motivation for, it's soaked up way too much of my time considering that it contributes only 10% to the module... Tomorrow I have a bit of admin to take care of, following that another two (!) computer reports before I can focus exclusively on exam preparation.

Mon-Fri 9-5 is super boring though. It's hard to get routine appointments done, the shops are full of weekend shoppers (who have no concept of spacial awareness) and other places are packed because everyone goes out. Give me two consecutive weekdays off any time.

Lucky for some - my midnight deadline came and by god, this report was nowhere near satisfactory. But it had to go, and off it went. Now onto the last two assignments before the real work begins
