The Brentford Branch is extended to the main passenger-carrying line through Brentford. A North-to-East curve allows trains to run from Heathrow to the WCML/MML via Old Kew Jn, Kew East Jn, Acton Central and the Dudding Hill Line, and a new extension of the GOBLIN (colloquial acronym for identification purposes only) Overground services via Willesden Junction.
The London Overground map will feature lines with different colour codes. Finally.
The North Downs Line will be electrified - initially with third rail throughout. The line will be used to test experimental RHTTs, WSP and other weather resistant technologies during harsher conditions, following a realisation that poor autumn/winter performance must be targeted with revolutionary systems. A new test track will open at the Old Betchworth Quarries, which will feature steep gradients and other challenging terrain.
A new Southern Express service will launch, running from London Bridge & Victoria non-stop to the edge of the London Zones - which will by then extend as far as Redhill, Reigate, Gatwick Airport, Oxted and Dorking to the South - and onwards to the South Coast. The new-build Class 460s used will free up Class 377s to run on semi-fast and stopping services.
An IEP will break down for 7 hours in a "not-especially-remote" location, leading to calls for HSTs to be reintroduced, as passengers become livid onboard when the windows jam, the toilets blowback and it is discovered that the GW franchise holder didn't bother including water supplies.
Altnabreac will still be remote.
