That's not a myth, Arriva bid for the franchise after the trains were introduced so they did choose to have trains that are too short

I've just checked . . . a passenger can buy a share in Stagecoach today for £2.15 , National Express for £2.54 or, if they feel really wealthy, a share in First Group for an astronomical £3.70.
Seems like a very cheap upgrade if it ever had a shread of truth!

However, it's always nice to be threatened with "I'm a personal friend of your Chief Executive, I'll see you out of a job tomorrow". My usual reply is "Who is it now? I don't keep track of them as they pass through".

I have once had "don't you know who I am young man!" I did find out who he was afterwards, but he was that good I've forgotten, and he was not getting in my way whilst I was trying to do my job regardless.

Next time someone tries that on, you should go to the tannoy and say "We've a gentlemen in Coach C who doesn't know who he is... could any medical staff please attend" - he'll soon remember

Best one I ever heard was a guy turned up in A&E on a busy Saturday night, and when he was told there would be a 4-5 hour wait as (he really should have been going to his GP Monday morning), he said "Do you know who my father is?", to which the nurse replied "No sir, I suggest you ask your mother!".

Myth # i really don't know any more. Stagecoach group can run an acceptable and punctual bus and rail service.
