That's what I thought. However a royal palm is a tree found in Florida and Cuba. So there you are you know a bit more now!

I remember seeing somewherethat 1V93 was from somewhere to Plymouth, sounds like a Current XC headcode so I'll guess Edinburgh to Plymouth.

Yep, Edinburgh to Plymouth. Deltic as far as York. Occasionally, if one had just been released by Doncaster Works, a 50 would then take over.

The Deltic then went back north on 1S27.

Thus it was -- so to speak -- the 'Royal Palm' Express; rather than the 'Royal' Palm Express. Makes sense, re the general milieu.
