Sewstern in Leics, in a factory that I used to work in , work done by Flying Scotsman Enterprises (McAlpine/Pegler) who were based at Market Overton Engine Shed, on the recently closed Ironstone System.

The Buckninster/Market Overton/ High Dyke system was the home for a time for Flying Scotsman Enterprises, along with another preservation association.

Pendennis Castle was part of Flying Scotsman Enterprises at the time and was certainly based there. There are quite a few photos around the system by David Ford on Flickr, which show both locos at the system.

Their eventual move to Carnforth was precipitated when BR wanted to remove the Main Line connection at High Dyke as part of the ECML upgrade.

Allegedly a passing BR Nabob noticed shunting going on in High Dyke Sidings, when they should have been closed some months earlier.

As a clue, the original Preservation Association which coexisted on the site moved to another set of Iron Ore Sidings a few miles away, had a name change about the same time, and still exists today under a (rebranded) name

I think Bahamas was at Dinting in that period, but I may be wrong.

Remember, we are talking about a preservation Association, which had more than one loco, various items of rolling stock, and an association with the local area.

What do the county of Rutland and its successors have in common with the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway?

Was the first semi-experimental miniature gauge (15”) built from a mainline station in Rutland to its destination around 1915? Was the company called Miniature Railways (or similar) owned by a gentleman called (possibly) Howey? (All from the very jumbled depths of my memory.)
