Thanks. Back to boring four-feet-eight-and-a-half...
A couple of years ago, I set a question involving several identically-named pairs of relatively out-of-the-way, and mostly defunct, stations in different respective parts of Britain: furnishing pre-grouping ownerships and broad geographical locations re each pair, and asking people to give the name in each case. The general picture got, was that the above-described as set, was somewhat overly abstruse. I'm venturing to try a similar exercise; but involving just one name-pair, and fuller clues.
These two stations, identically named, can be described as broadly speaking, at opposite ends of England; each was in "coal country", but a relatively rural version thereof. One was on a line of the London & North Western Railway; the other, on a line of the Great Western. One lost its passenger service in the 1920s, the other in the 1950s; their lines, in both cases, survived stations' pass. closure "in some sort" -- but both are long-abandoned as at the present day. A stretch -- some distance away from "our" station -- of one line, is featured in a well-known and much-loved film.
Please give the relevant name.
