[4] Port Augusta (SAR 3' 6" / Commonwealth Railways 4' 8-and-a-half " Trans-Australian line).

[5] Kalgoorlie (Commonwealth 4' 8-and-a-half" / Western Australian Government Rys. 3' 6").

The significance of 1927 is that in that year, the New South Wales Government Railways' route was completed, through to Broken Hill. 4' 8-and-a-half" east of that city; and 3' 6" west thereof, linking in to South Australian 3' 6" system. This potentially cut out one change of gauge -- though I suspect that taking this route might have been no quicker than travelling, as above, via Melbourne and Adelaide.

'Whingill' is nearly there - it's actually Merrygill. And as for Rigg Beck...Percy Beck is the correct name. Well done though!

The appalling Bullseye directed by Michael Winner. Michael Caine & Roger Moore were in it as well as a cameo by John Cleese & I think it was filmed on the Mid Hants
