Are the semaphores at Cantley of the co-acting type due to sighting issues?
We have a winner. Cantley is one of only three locations left on the national network with a co-acting semaphore. Norfolk used to have a second one at Thetford but that was lost a few years ago.

No, you can rule out the L&B because it wasn't standard gauge.
Oops. Maybe the Withered Arm summit? Same problem with the exact height and location.
Or is possibly Maesbury Summit on the S&D

Actually, let's go for Meldon Summit, think that's up there. No idea of the height up on Dartmoor there though

That would be Meldon Junction
You are at least going back in the right direction though, for another clue you need to remain on the mainline, the line elevation at the location in question was 950ft but I'll leave the name for you to find

You've gone a little too far now but you're very close indeed, I think the viaduct at Lake was actually known as Southerly Viaduct in railway days, a final clue to the location is that the last word of its name is Moor.

Yes, that is normally true... However some of the cargo ships converted received a commission as HMS Daring before receiving their final names. It was something to put down on the books to make everything nice and legal...
