Not all services terminate there. There's 1H66 0005 London Victoria - Worthing which goes via Brighton (in fairness it does detach a terminating portion before reversing out).

With Portsmouth Harbour, you can go into London via Basingstoke, Petersfield, Horsham or Hove. There are a few more diversions but they don't see through service e.g. the Mole Valley line.

A class 31 (class 30 at the time) had a Mirrlees engine which was uprated to 2000hp in it's early years, but it was de-rated following crankcase cracking. Eventually the Mirrlees engines we not deemed satisfactory at their nominal rating and were replaced by EE ones. I think it might have been D5518.

I take it you mean the City And South London Railway.

This ran from King William Street station, Borough, Elephant and Castle, Kennington, Oval and then Stockwell. The route followed mostly roads apart from under the Thames.

Farringdon to King's Cross was not planned as a tube style railway was it? I believe it was similar to what was eventually built from Paddington to Farringdon...

The one I am looking for was planned as a tube style ( ie a dug tunnel, not a cut and cover ) and was somewhere between the two in dates. The tunnel was partly dug but never completed and part of it is believed to still be extant today, although totally inaccessible.

Whitehall to Waterloo it is; started in 1864 and abandoned in 1866 due to a general economic downturn. A short portion of the tunnel is believed to still exist ( but I don't think it's in the Bakerloo - as I understand it the Bakerloo uses the station area itself at Waterloo ).
