AFAIK Eastbourne was electrified in 1935, so it doesn't relate to Electric trains.

Was it the last steam hauled train using non-corridor stock?

You are nearer the answer (...a good try but not correct)
Note...Non corridor stock was in use until 1967 on the Southern. The Isle Of Wight had non-corridor steam stock.

...I was aware there were non-corridor DEMU and EMU stock until this century including the 1938 stock on the IOW..
I meant non-corridor steam hauled stock finished around 1967

I did not think that was possible on one train to have two different braking systems?

My answer at 2155hrs maybe throwing you of course a bit.

No.

I think the last stock was the Class 205/207 Thumpers were running until this century without corridor connections.
