A lot of research has revealed that-
Dalnaspidal was closed in 1965 but at the request of the local authority the station platform and shelter was kept in situ as an emergency in case severe weather conditions blocked the adjacent A9 road between Inverness and Perth.
I found a photo on the web site taken in 1997 of the platform still in situ.
I am sure what use had been made of the platform.
Getting closer, but trains didn't keep stopping there after closure.
There were quite a few station platforms that remained in situ after closure.
I'm surprised no one has picked up on the fact that it was a guaranteed 37 that the bashers were going for (at the time).
PS I found a webpage with much info about this station, but no mention of it being kept open after closure...

No-one seems to be able to come up with an answer to this one.
The station is Glencarron, just East of Achnashellach. The station used to have a passenger operated semaphore to request trains to stop there. The walk from Achnashellach was not exactly short, just over 4 miles IIRC.
It closed in 1964, but you could still flag trains down until at least the end of full class 37 operation on the Kyle line.
Open floor if anyone would like to try setting a less obscure one....
