Bold = Stopping places... and it would be with either TNT 73, TNT 33 or two cigs and EDs.

Seeing as 37s have been down that route before.

Well I'm going to anyway:

Creswell (on the 'Robin Hood Line' although I'm not sure if the tracks on it actually connect to the rest of 'my fantasy railtour' anymore)- Clowne- Barrow Hill- Sheffield (Beighton Junction via Woodhouse/Nunnery Junction)- Dronfield- Chesterfield (using Midland Main Line)- Barrow Hill- Bolsover Castle (via Seymour Junction).
Of course, more than a tour, I'd actually like Clowne to have a rail service again, even though I don't live there anymore. Clowne's bigger than all the intermdiate towns on the Robin Hood Line (except Mansfield). They could easily use the goods lines for passenger services from Clowne to Chesterfield (via Barrow Hill) & beyond. At least, I think so.

Failing that: I'd love it if they ever did tours on the Trafford Park railway. Most of the tracks look to be in pretty good nick. For reasons unknown they even laid new ballast on part of it recently, even though it's disused!

In case anyone is wondering: any motive power you like, though if it's going through Barrow Hill, you may as well have a Deltic!

F**king weeks!
I like how on the top line you have been as specific as "Darnall" and "Barrow Hill Loop" and by the next line down you jump from Bristol to Brockenhurst! You need to reverse either at Southampton or Weymouth to do that I believe!

Fair point, but I was sort of thinking, as the next point is Kensington Olympia.

Not if you go from Bristol to Brockenhurst via Didcot, Reading West, Basingstoke and Southampton Central.

Or via Bath, Westbury, Romsey and Chandlers Ford. However, you'd need to reverse at Brockenhurst in order to go towards Kensington Olympia.

Do any of the charter stock companies own sleeper crriages to make such massive tours comfortable (without resorting to hotels)?

I've been tossing around ideas for railtours for a while, mainly ones that do track in the Midlands that is never used for tours and filling in bits here and there that I'd love to have highlighted in my atlas.

Some bits I've love to see done:

Round Oak
Burton-on-Trent - Leicester via Coalville
Moreton-on-Lugg
Walsall - Water Orton

Know of one passenger working - 86222 (aka furry) rescued some duff that sat down at Kings Norton on a VXC working one summer saturday and worked into New St.

25309 Euston-Bletchley-Bedford-Corby-Leicester-Pancras would be a nice saunter with 309 being a former CW machine.

I think Cargo-D have some!

According to their website, they've got a solitary sleeping car, for staff mainly.

Are the Night Riveria and Caledonian Sleeper sets really the only full sleeper rakes around? And how many sleeper coaches are there? The two lowland sleepers each have up to twelve I believe (six for Glasgow, six for Edinburgh) plus two seated and two lounge. The Highland has two sleeper cars for Fort William*- are there five each for Inverness and Aberdeen (bringing it to the same size as the Lowland)? That would put the Caledonian on a total each night of forty eight running- wikipedia says they have 53, which seems a reasonable pool of spares.

How many sleeper cars do the Night Riveria services run? From what I can pick out they're barely bigger than a single "section" of the Caledonian, so I'd guess no more than six each way. Add a couple of spares to that, and add to the Caledonian stock, and you've got around seventy. Again relying on wikipedia, there were over 200 mk3 sleeper coaches built 82-84.

*These get a lounge car added for the run between Edinburgh and Fort William
