There was a Charter train on the GWNL between Maidenhead and Reading being pulled by a class 37 between 12:30 pm - 1:15pm, does anyone what charter service this was at all please?

The reason I ask is that I work to the west of Maidenhead whose access road crosses above the GWML on a bridge and happened to be working by the bridge when i saw this train. Unfortunately, I did not manage to get the number of the class 37, but I can tell you that is painted a dark red/brown colour with small yellow ends. There was about 7 red/brown carriages being pulled by the class 37.

Sounds like a West Coast 37. Probably some West Coast coaches as well.

No sign of any tours heading along the GWML today.
There is one on Wednesday, starting from Basingstoke. I doubt its the stock heading down for that though. Too soon.

Could just have been an ECS movement.

That definitely sounds like a WCRC 37 to me, and most likely some WCRC-owned Maroon Mark 1's. If there was no scheduled railtour, I would've thought its an ECS from Southall to position the stock for a railtour. It could've been going to Eastleigh or somewhere similar. Hope that answers your query a little bit. :)

Ah, if theres one stabled at Southall, its a good bet its that one. Perhaps heading back to Carnforth?

Perhaps it was an ECS move as you suggest, but then I suppos eit is taking the route from Didcot Parkway up to through Oxford, Banbury and Lemington Spa to join the West Coat line at Coventry to travel on up to Carnforth?

I think it was a WCRC set though as they did look like Mk1 coaches.

Thank you for your help folks.

If it was going to Carnforth then yes it could have been going via Oxford.
It may have been heading elsewhere though.
Its pretty certain it was WCRC. Riviera have some Mk1s, but beens it was a WCRC 37, well it certainly sounds like it), then id guess it was their Mk1s as well.
