I agree with his concerns, however I think the solution is NOT to build more roads (that just encourages even more traffic overall and shifts the problem elsewhere) but for freight to go by train instead.
Lorries should pay for the wear and tear they cause on the roads, and the pollution and inconvenience they cause. It's not a level playing field at all. Road freight is effectively subsidised by not having to pay access charges.
A pensioner, angry at lorries driving through Chideock in Dorset, has been blocking traffic using a pedestrian crossing.
Tony Fuller and his neighbours brought traffic to a standstill for an hour on the A35 on Tuesday.
Mr Fuller said the road is too narrow for heavy lorries and wants a bypass built around the village.
However, not all residents back Mr Fuller's actions, and Valerie Hawkins said the protests increase pollution while the cars are stationary.
