You raise an interesting point. I guess the crux of the issue is the difference between regularity and frequency.

On this track, FGW is regular but infrequent, SWT is irregular but more frequent.

I don't see that really, for weekdays at least - the only thing FGW have going for their service is that weekends are much better than SWT.

On a weekday, SWT's eastbound trains are just as regular as FGW's single service, in fact the afternoon SWT service (Fareham to Waterloo via Havant) only runs an hour or two after FGWs Great Malvern to Brighton. The two real oddballs are SWT's late evening Havant to Fareham passenger services, they are very much out of the ordinary pattern.

How is the decision made on whether to show a route as 'limited'? SWT run more weekday passenger services (five) along the top of the Farlington triangle than FGW (three), so why are SWT shown limited and FGW 'normal'?

I think the upper limit is supposed to be somewhere near 1tpd each way. I make both operators to run 10tpw eastbound and 15tpw west, comfortably above that figure.

The map isn't on the Project Mapping site yet. When it is, it should hopefully say what was supposed to have changed this time.
