TOC is GWR.
Decided to cancel my journey after the train was seriously delayed leaving the terminal.
Problem is I think I've lost £42.50 as I cannot now find my ticket. It must have slipped out of my wallet at some point.
I am assuming I have forfeited my chance to be compensated for the unused ticket.

Do you have a copy of the booking confirmation email or other evidence of the booking?

If so, this doesn't entitle you to a refund but it might get you a goodwill gesture (for example GWR sometimes give out complimentary scratch cards for travel on their services) or a payment under Delay Repay, if the journey would have been delayed by a qualifying amount. I have known some train companies provide compensation under such circumstances.
