Good job it ran early between Ipswich and Norwich. Looking at that schedule it would have met the 17.30 NRW - LST head on at Trowse Swing Bridge and we would be two sets short ;)

Just need to see how long it takes to be made fit for traffic now, sooner the better.

It's NC66. It will always stay together for various reasons, another GA set will be broken up to provide spares for the others.

Will take about 6 weeks for mods to be done then it should be out in traffic.

Is 90034 going to be going over to work with it, or will it just be the Anglia 90s operating it?

There really isn't a lot of difference. Just moquette and carpets. The coaches are still Mk3s with IC70 seats and original lighting.

:D The old has beens all came from Virgin (and were in a terrible state) ?? <D

Yep awful. Crown Point have had their work cut out to get reliability to where it is now. The Remote Condition Monitoring, designed in house, has proved invaluable.

Awful. But IIRC they went pretty much straight into service (some with DBSOs) where they were falling to bits and failing all over the place.

Forgive my ignorance but what does NC64/NC66 mean, please? :)

They are just the set number for the coaches.

Whereas an EMU will have a six digit number, i.e. 313034, for loco hauled sets such as the ones used on Liverpool Street - Norwich have all the individual coach numbers on but no collective number. There is the loco number (90001 etc) and the Driving Van Trailer at the back (82001 etc) but these get swapped around all the time for maintainence so you cannot rely on the same coaches being with the same loco each week!

So to avoid typing "coaches 12345, 12346, 12347, 12348, 12349, 12350, 12351" they simply put "set NC66" - with NC being the depot code for Norwich (Crown Point), where it is based. Same with other operators as well, e.g. First Great Western HSTs will be OC99 for Old Oak Common (west London) depot or LA99 for Laira (near Plymouth) etc etc :)

:D Have it on good authority AGA will have the set in service next week, with their own DVT and catering vehicle - so no WiFi  <D (controlled from DVT). Load 9 (5+3) diagram.

Is it being repainted?

The GA mk3s have remote condition monitoring? How does that work?

Cheers

Nope, we have been waiting for this set to enter service to reduce the short forms on the other sets, don't need further unnecessary delay. Don't care what colour it is ;)

Remote Condition Monitoring was developed in house by some clever people at Crown Point for a song. Was shown it once working on a laptop, But I'm not technical enough to understand all the ins and outs.

There will be no WiFi even when with the Pretendolino DVT as not compatible with AGA. Punters cant have that & plug sockets just yet ;)

And yet still 1p05 0600 Norwich - liv st was shortformed and SRO from Ipswich. Will use of pretendolino allow the other sets to run at booked length? When?

I was on this service this morning - a nice surprise. They apologised for the lack of WiFi.

In theory yes but it is also in use so the refurbs can start on the normal GA stock.

Hope the Snr Conductor also appologised for the provision of power sockets in some of the vehicles. Noticed one comment on ****ter from a passenger not impressed with the newly refurbished carriage
