In these programmes they follow policemen so obviously it's going to appear there's police at all these troublespots.

When I say look at the bigger picture, I do not mean look at other opinion and choose the opinion with a majoirty. I mean to make an informed decision based on facts, history and principles. Not mass opinion.

I'm not going to go against the main opinion when I believe that is the right opinion myself that would just be stupid.

The fact is you said there is never police around when you see it which you suggest must mean there isn't enough. Well just because you don't see doesn't mean that at all. The programme shows you what you don't see.

Yorkie quoted a 0.5% of all searches resulted in an arrest and these include the man who got detained for 9 hours but was innocent.
Yorkie's quote:
'The 'success rate' of the terrorism searches is 0.5% (and that 0.5% isn't bombs, it's very minor things that potentially might be linked to terrorism and see the link about the bloke who was detained for 9 hours without doing anything wrong - people like him are included in that 0.5% so it's not really a 'success rate' at all'

So you'd rather lose that 0.5% then?

There's nothing wrong with intelligence and Stop and Search working hand in hand. As I believe just have intelligence would have a lower success rate overall.
Really? A lower success rate than half a percent? I find that hard to believe.

So what is it then? How about you phone a friend or go 50/50?

Oh wow Yorkie.

All I said is I believe muggings cause terror. I do not need to say yes or no.

That's up to you to believe it or not but what makes you think just intelligence will do more?

Absolutely, given that the time can then be spent on searches that yield a success rate of 22% (see link posted by Beaker earlier), that would cause a reduction in knife crime that would genuinely save lives.

But stop and searches help lower other types of crime as well as terrorism.

But with far lower success rates than targeted searches. It's good that you admit that the searches that are made in the name of terrorism are actually used for other reasons though, which demonstrates a misuse of power, I am glad you can see that misuse.

Yes because as explained in Yorkie's quote, this 0.5% success rate aren't really successful at all, 3 or 4 arrests in 1000, some of them being completely innocent doesn't inspire much confidence in this method compared to the 22% of people searched in that high-crime area had knives.

This is pure assumption and you have no facts for this. The stop and searches in question are under the terrorism act and are proven to be unsuccesful.

No Yorkie stop telling what I have admitted to when I haven't admitted anything of the like. You CAN'T dictate to me what I have done/said when I haven't. You're just as bad as a dictator on here.

Its fact that stop and searches pick up guns and knifes as seen on the news. So don't accuse me of just assuming when its actual fact.

You posted that the stop and searches under the terrorism act prevent other crime, therefore backing up Yorkie's post.

Oh, perhaps you mistyped? You said that searches conducted for terrorism reasons were actually being used for other reasons? Is that the case or not? Please clarify.

We're talking about random stop and searches which only yield a very small 0.5% success rate whilst we support targeted stop and searches.

I am often more afraid of the police than the supposed existance of crime in the first place. Miscarriages of justice are becoming far too common in our society because of the increased power people are given.

You want stop Search and Stops which help stop such behaviour.
I want to stop random search and stops under the terrorism act which only have a 0.5% success rate. Not search and stops which yield better results.

BUT SOMEONE ISN'T GOING TO GO AROUND GOING I HAVE A KNIFE I HAVE A BOMB

or anything like that are they.

They'll keep it hush hush. So no one knows. This action is just as random as the action that the police are taking.

And no Yorkie - that doesn't mean im against it at all
