Well, I'm glad it didn't happen as I was halfway through listening to an episode of Whose Line is it Anyway at the time and wouldn't have been best pleased if I'd missed the end of it.

I was working a train at the time today, and had some fun with it during my announcements. So did the Reading station announcer too!

I've just bought a new calendar, £3 in Tesco, highly recommended for any of the Mayans out there.

Why for the Mayans? They didn't predict anything was going to happen today other than their calendar ends and a new one would start. In effect, they had already bought one.

I am devastated. I was so convinced that the world was coming to an end yesterday that I burnt all my money in a big bonfire in the back yard instead of going to work.

As soon as I realised that there was not going to be any Armageddon, I had to go straight to the pub and drown my sorrows in premium lager, all scrounged due to my lack of cash. The bar staff were very rude, and would not allow me a free drink, even though I was distraught from my experiences.

I was asked to leave the boozer at about 6pm, fell down on my way home and cracked my head open. After several hours in A&E, when I was ignored but others were seen, I finally and understandably lost my temper which resulted in a night in the cells. I am now due to appear before the local magistrates on Monday morning.

I can't help thinking that this is all the Mayans fault. if they hadn't predicted the end of the world I would not be in this situation.

I would welcome some advice:

1. Could I get a criminal record from this?
2. Is it worth trying to settle out of court?
3. Who can I sue? There are no Mayans in the phone book.

Merry Christmas! :p:p:p;)

Ha, Ha!
'Diminished Responsibility' comes to mind!!

'Misrepresentation' would be hard to sustain without a readily available Mayan to represent the argument, but there has been a Defence in a 'false belief, reasonably held' * which would be a bit of a laugh to argue in front of the Bench on a Christmas Eve, probably drawing a parallel with a belief in 'Father Christmas'.

Merry Christmas, indeed ! ! ! !

I wonder if the Railway Bylaws cover the Mayans, as these byelaws are so comprehensive from what I am led to believe, that they cover any and every known eventuality known to mankind.

Perhaps yorkie, the fount of knowledge on all such matters, will know ?

I have decided to lobby the DfT to amend the bylaws to prohibit armageddon. I am very concerned about the safety of passengers during such an event. It seems a very strange omission.
