Just to fuel the fears of the ninnies, may I remind everyone that the signs of the onset of Ragnarok are: increased warfare (so far so standard every year); very bad weather (been a tad damp lately); and the death of Ygdrassil, the universal ash tree. This latter is obviously what is happening with that fungus-thingy. So, i am sorry to say we are doomed.
The good news is that Ragnarok is not the utter end, but (like the Mayan calendar) the start of renewing as well. So everything will get better.

The "end of the world" prediction has been well used by the pubs and clubs to hold special party events on 21st December. MOTTO : Never let an apocalypse get in the way of a good time, where the bar tills will be "jingling out" lots of pre-Christmas seasonal extra profits for these premises..

On a more sober note, there was a discussion on the early morning ITV news programme where a couple of people said that very young children could be very frightened if they overheard their parents talking about this matter, as they would not fully understand the difference between reality and supposition. Another point made was that this "prediction" could well be the inspiration for certain cults to band together and set some unfortunate wheels of motion turning, that could lead to a "man-made" disaster of sorts.

Incidentally, does the entire 24 hour period on the 21st December have to elapse, before this "prediction" can be seen to be as false as all those other "end of the world" prophesies that have gone before?

I decided, for my own amusement to take a look at various sites making the claims that things will all go t*ts up tomorrow.

However, the first two I found don't fill me with confidence. The first one had a "Countdow Clock" and the second referred to the ending with "Greenwitch Mean Time"

How can I take it seriously looking at errors like that?
