 It's not actually a story, just wondered what peoples opinions were. From people I know, opinions are very 50/50.

Half of the people you know think the world's going to end this month ?
you must mix with a very strange bunch then as I can assure you it's complete and utter rubbish.

Very David Icke like.

If it's true, at least I won't have to put up with this damned heating system playing up any more <(

I see that the link provided to that site gives answers to ten matters shown in their index. Who is it who actually provides the funds for this website ?

What do you mean who provides funds? It's NASA's official website.

Shall I rephrase my query. Is it any specific part of the American Government who provides these funds, such as the CIA ?

NASA is a US Government agency and as such receives funding from the federal budget as agreed by Congress. I'm not quite sure what you're trying to suggest by bringing the CIA into this...

American politically funded mis-information from specific budgets allocated to this, which will be denied officially.

Are we in the world of Conspiracy Theories again...:D

Yeeee hah!
I am all for conspiracies. But my love of ribbing "scientists" prompts me to chuckle at the bald statement "The world will not end in 2012". Have they not heard of the Vogons, or, indeed, the giant, planet-eating space goat? Or unpredicted events?

Paddy Power Australia currently offer 500-1 on the world ending by the end of the year...

A cunning move on their part, as no-one will be available to collect their winnings if proved correct....

If I'm honest, I'm getting slightly bored of this crap. I look forward to waking up on the 22nd of this month with nothing worse than a mighty hangover from my friend's Lord of the Ring's themed birthday party...

Good to hear that you are only slightly bored.

I'd be a bit peeved if it did all end on the 21st. We've booked Centre Parcs for March and I'm rather looking forward to it!

I'd be a bit peeved if it did all end . . . .
I'm sorry to say that I'm unable to understand this.

How, in that event, could you possibly be peeved?

If 'it' didn't all end, then you might experience any possible outcome.
If 'it' did, then you wouldn't. Isn't that what 'end' means?

Or perhaps I should be asking you to assist me with my investment choices?

It was a joke. The joke being that if it was to end of course I wouldn't exactly be able to be peeved because I wouldn't be here.

The Mayans predicted nothing of the sort. All that they did do was create a Calendar that runs out on 21st December 2012. They made no prophecies about the end of the world whatsoever and to attribute such things to this once great civilisation rather denigrates it.

The Mayans believed there was a calendar cycle before the current one. Why shouldn't there be another cycle?

One thing I predict that won't end is the hard of thinking buying into this and other pseudoscientific crap.

Surely the Mayans just got bored of writing calendars? Who really needs a calendar hundreds or thousands of years away from now?

Not sure if it means any thing but I did hear this interesting rumour that George Lucas believes the world will end! and was one of the reasons why he sold Star Wars (and all the other bits under Lucasfilm, e.g. Indiana Jones).

A perfect example of the hard of thinking. "The world's about to end, what do I need? Billions of dollars."

To do what with? Unless George Lucas also believes in an afterlife where he gets to take his bank account and its contents with him. Oh and if that is his thinking then he'll have to contend with Matthew 19:23-24.;):)

Indeed. They did a lot better than programmers that didn't think we'd ever reach 2000.

If there's an afterlife where I can take my bank account with me, that will presumably mean I'd have to continue dealing with Lloyds TSB. Frankly, I'd rather lose the money.

I see that is has been reported in the China Daily Post that a top restaurant in Hong Kong, not exactly known for their small individual bill totals, has decided to enter into the spirit of this, by having a special "end of the world" banquet and their customers will only need to pay their bills if the day has passed off without any "world termination".

I note that tradition is not allowed to "die hard" in Northern Ireland as certain sections of the community there have decided to cover their options on the off-chance that the "prediction" just may be right by having a good old sectarian "celebration" to remember "the good old days" for the days leading up to the run off to the predicted date.

What exactly will happen will the world just end, would we even know what was happening, will we just goto bed one night and not wake up, will the universe and evolution start all over again.

I got a rather interesting and amusing text message this time last year off a girl I knew years ago who asked my opinion on the end of world, I told her it was a load of ****e, she then went on to suggest we should make a baby, I just laughed at her and said whats the point...think she just wanted to get laid to be honest...

I personally it is a load of crap, we will all be still here come the end of the year
