We are now in the final period leading to this predicted apocalyptic date of 21st December 2012, which is said to correspond to the final day of the 13th b'ak'tun or the 144,000-day cycle of the historical Mayan "Long Count" Calendar.

What plans does anyone have to put their affairs in order or to achieve a long-held ambition before this happens..:D

I'd write to ATOC and ask if the tickets will be refundable in the event of the world ending.

No need to panic, the Mayan's didn't have leap years. It's now 2013 in their calendar ;)

Plus I think I've survived about 10 End of the Worlds so far ;)

What plans does anyone have to put their affairs in order . . . . .
If it does all end on 21st Dec, then I don't think that the state of my affairs is going to be of any concern. To anybody. Anywhere. Ever.

And if it doesn't end on 21st Dec, then I don't think the state of my affairs will be of any more concern to anyone than if the threat hadn't been mentioned.

So no. I have no plans (but I will still be working towards completing the information for my Tax Return in the New Year).

If it does then I won't be happy after all of the effort I've put into coursework and revision for exams!

Although it will mean I don't have to worry about buying presents with my lack of funds

I think it happened a bit early. Mayan civilisation was destroyed a few centuries ago.

Im on a railtour on the 22nd, and I really wouldn't want to see Class 56 & 60 haulage to Waterloo go out the window. Oh well

I'm only 16 and have lived through 3 end of the worlds, 4th time lucky :D:lol:

It explains why certain TOCs never bothered to invest in newer stock - can't blame the ROSCOs for not wanting to buy new trains when they had such a limited shelf life, pre-apocalypse

The missus birthday is on 22nd December, do I bank on it actually happening or should I buy her presents? :)

Does this mean the world will in fact be ending on the 22nd?

Also, EMT coaxed me into buying advance tickets to London with £10 off on the 22nd. I better be getting my money's worth!!!

It can't end this year, my computer (Win. 7) has a calendar showing up until 2099, which is the same as my old computer and my work computer (both XP).

Does Bill Gates know something we don't? ;)

If the world does end on the 21st I'll be a bit miffed as I've pencilled that weekend to spend at home relaxing having spent the previous four weekends away visiting friends, on forum meets and what have you.

Not sure if it means any thing but I did hear this interesting rumour that George Lucas believes the world will end! and was one of the reasons why he sold Star Wars (and all the other bits under Lucasfilm, e.g. Indiana Jones).

(not that i believe anything will happen, although if it does, I'd be dead so I wouldn't care :P )

One you want to kill as soon as you see it coming towards you, the other is an annoying insect.

If it ends, that's fine I won't have to get up for work on the 22nd! LOL

if it doesn't then I will be quite relieved... I don't quite know why I believe something will happen but just watching the news explains a lot!
