Weybridge on DF. A Salisbury (1L73) service appears to be involved if the maps on OTT is correct, as it hasn't moved from where its standing for over ½ an hour.

More likely to be off the platform, so the 2L73 next to the 1L73 is more likely.

(As an aside, aren't those two reporting numbers helpful for signallers)

It was 1L73.

Weybridge has a pretty poor record of fatalities and near misses courtesy of the scroats who won't use the footbridge to cross the line.

I'd tend to agree with hd that it's 1L73, more so as 2L73 was booked to stop at weybridge.

I will put my head above the parapet to be shot at!
With modern technology does the time honoured system of route signing need to be as restrictive as it is? I suggest that an aircraft is more dangerous than a train,
not least because it is not attached to the ground, but a qualified pilot can go anywhere relying on navigation systems to tell the way.
In the case of the Byfleet curve, for example, which is little used, why can there not be the equivalent of a sophisticated sat nav system showing the route, speed restrictions, signals and anything else necessary so that any driver could follow it if necessary?
Only asking!

IMHO we are not very far off that. In a post ETCS Level 2 world, and certainly post ATO, detailed route knowledge requirements will be much diminished.

Unfortunately it seems there was another hold up now outside Raynes Park as their is a train at the platform in front of us. Not to mention one at New Malden. We are now being held at Raynes Park itself. May be there's a string of trains into Waterloo. The driver or guard did say we were being held outside Raynes Park for safety reasons so they have at leaf communicated to us.

The Raynes Park incident wasn't a fatality; it was yet another instance a van arguing with the Lower Downs Road bridge.

They reckon C-DAS will be good for drivers telling them what's ahead and what speed to do. I prefer to use Mk1 eyeballs, brain and skills to achieve that far more accurately than that thing can do, so I will be switching it off or should I say blanking it and removing my details from it.

It was 1L73. The trespasser was reportedly standing on the DF, giving the driver no chance.

The driver did remarkably well in the aftermath. Brave man.

So that's five in what, two/three weeks? It is truly sad.

It's very sad day indeed yesterday. Heart goes out to all concerned.

It's odd because I can recall at will, many of the routes and moves should I want, I can work out my speeds to within 1 or 2 mph to achieve the perfect run, in fact I find going to Waterloo quite tedious and I really do need extra knowledge to keep me interested.

The brain is most fascinating. I can recall various facts about many things and explain how things I know well work but recalling what they look like and their surroundings any great detail, no.

Thanks for that. I can only assume it was so soon that it hadn't reached any delay sections yet in Journey Check.

I assume the bridge is after Raynes Park.

The CIS also wasn't working correctly last night.

Does the functionailty of DAS form part of one of the ECTS levels?

Is there a cut-off point for how long a driver's signing of a route can lapse after which they're considered to be completely new to a route for route learning/signing purposes?

No. DAS is a stand-alone system which can be used with conventional signalling or over ETCS. However it would be much better if it was interfaced with ETCS. Then the possibility of DAS displaying a higher advisory speed than permitted by the signalling would be eliminated.
