Why not? Personally I am not a fan of pineapple but it is a usual accompaniment to gammon. Might have that for my tea tonight.

I very much concur. Though thoroughly liking peas of the ordinary kind, I avoid the mushy variety like the plague. Have no problem with their taste -- but to me the unnatural colour, and the texture, are abhorrent.

I wonder if it varies by region - they seem to me to be much brighter in the North East than in the North West.
(All mushy peas are coloured, otherwise they would be quite grey).

Trivia item -- I gather that in the former Rhodesias, "mushy" is a colloquialism for sweet / lovable. I was once acquainted with a (white, as it happened) lady from Zambia, who went by the pet name of Mushy.
