Is a 7-minute connection time normally enough for alighting at platform 15, touching out at the reader on platform 17 and changing to a suburban train at platform 11? (If not, I will opt for a traditional ticket for £1.90 instead of £1.60 on Oyster with railcard.)

Is a 7-minute connection time normally enough for alighting at platform 15, touching out at the reader on platform 17 and changing to a suburban train at platform 11? (If not, I will opt for a traditional ticket for £1.90 instead of £1.60 on Oyster with railcard.)

If everything is running on-time and you position yourself in the coach nearest the stairs, then yes. But it's less than the minimum connection time of 10 minutes, so you won't be entitled to compensation if you miss the train. I really would encourage you to allow more time in your itineraries!

If it is a regular journey I would take the risk but if it's a one off and/or your final arrival time matters, I wouldn't

I will turn up and go on that day and plan to get to my destination (London Road) as soon as possible, so I have no fixed itinerary. There are two trains each hour for London Road, departing xx:03 and xx:45. The final trains from Battersea to catch the xx:45 are the xx:40 from Queenstown Road (2-minute connection), xx:34 from Battersea Park (7-minute connection) and xx:29 from Queenstown Road (the last official connection). There is no connection from Battersea Park for the xx:03 train. Considering that I start at Battersea Park and it takes 4 minutes of walking from Battersea Park to Queenstown Road, there are 9 minutes in the hour (starting between xx:25 and xx:34 at Battersea Park) when I will have to switch ticket (as there is 17/20 chance of boarding at Queenstown Road, I have bought the ticket just to Queenstown Road instead of paying extra for a ticket to London Terminals, and I don't want to risk a 2-minute connection when a 7-minute one is available!).

So it's not a matter of allowing more time in my itinerary as I don't have an itinerary to begin with!
