At what used to be the Rover and possibly Ford dealer (lastly being an Chinese MG dealer before moving) in Wareham a pristine looking S reg Fiesta and C reg mini. The Mini even has it's Austin Rover customer information/sales sheet.

Also at the VW bus/camper repairers in Wareham (Kombi Klassics) a selection of old VW campers.

The Mini also displays one of the contemporary number plates which at the time I used to call ‘Computer’ registrations. Not sure what the proper name was or if they’re still legal as I haven’t seen one for ages.

P-suffix (1975-76) Ford Cortina Mk3 XL, in a vibrant shade of 70s orange and in fine fettle, it seemed, cruising around Eastbourne.

A rarer one, a VW Polo Harlequin. The "scrap dealer special!". Spotted today in Dorchester.

Walking to the football ground yesterday, saw a tired but solid-looking Jeep Grand Cherokee on an M (94/95). Remember those looking huge when they were new, but it looked tiny at the side of today's tanks!

S (August 1998 - February 1999) Nissan Primera
T (March 1999 - July 1999) Citroen Xsara

Both looked physically good and were parked near to a longstanding independent garage so could have been there for service, MOT, unscheduled repair.

On Euston Road, a Y-suffix (82-83) W123 Mercedes-Benz 230E, in an elegant shade of light metallic green. Absolute class.

DAF 66 Variomatic estate on a P-plate (1975-76), doing some Sainsbury's shopping. Sounded quite throaty - might be a non-standard exhaust, a blown exhaust, or something more exotic than the original 1.3 power unit under the bonnet.

A friend of mine as an Austin A60, and a Talbot Alpine

In the Lidl by Mirfield station, a Peugeot 306 and Vauxhall Astra, both on a Y (2001) and both 3-door versions. Decent condition and looked like they were "daily drivers".
Also on the main road I saw a Morris Minor Traveller (woody) on a K suffix with L plates displayed. If you learn to drive in that then you'll be able to handle anything!

I'll see your Minor Traveller, and will raise you an Austin A35 van. In use with an artisan baker in Mold, today.

Was a mute but clearly intelligent dog driving it ?

My two offerings from today, both from 1982/3

1) Triumph Acclaim (Y) in near mint condition, being driven on a very wet road in Leighton Buzzard

2) Merc SL convertible (A) again in near mint condition, just now on a very wet road in St Albans … with the hood down!

Was it definitely a 205? If the Wikipedia article is to be believed (I'm trying to find a better source) the 205 had been out of production since 1999, and ceased to be offered in the UK in 1998.

It's possible that it had been unsold dealer stock, hence the late registration. If so, it must be one of the last 205s to be registered and would make it quite rare.

Sorry, it was a 206, there was a 205 on my road, 1997 reg, it was more rust though than car, but it disappeared end of last year I don't know if it's that people in coastal towns don't like change, but there seems to be more older cars hanging on longer than other towns.

A mini estate/traveller, not a 'woodie', with a 3 letters and numbers registration pre-dating the year letters and probably the original plate not a private one.

As now allowed a 51 plate Toyota Yaris Verso ( A 'gulp moment' to realise that Yaris as a name was introduced over 25 years ago ).
