Oiling Locos

Just a bit of advice guys...
I was given a tip to oil my 00 gauge locos with sunflower oil, as one of them was very squeeky. Trouble was... when I went to test run it, it started smoking, and I took it off about 5 seconds before it caught fire. The loco now no longer runs... so please, never oil your locos with sunflower oil!

No, Never use sun flower oil thats the worst thing possbile to use!!

I brought something called Hob-E Lube, Lite oil. they do different grades and the light oil was the best. Works wonders

Ah sweet, maybe next time (if I dare again...) I will use that. I still cant believe I used sunflower oil

Some Dapol locos are recommend to be oiled before every time you use them.

Most locomotives come with a gummy oil that merely needs the loco run for about 30mins in each direction at a constant speed to gel it up and prepare for use. This normally only needs to be done the firts time you run the loco after purchase.

My loco was a very old one made by 'Mainline.' I bought it second hand, so sadly, it didnt come with anything like that.
