I had my interview over a month ago, and all I’ve heard is that the union has to give Network rail the green light to hear the outcome? Anyone have any idea on this?

RecruitmentWho has told you that?
So why would recruitment tell me this? Surely they would tell me if unsuccessful?Total rubbish to be blunt, there MAY be a situation where consultation is being held with the trade union to increase the number of staff in the role you’ve applied for, which is awaiting the formal agreement between NWR and union.
In no way does the trade union have any direct say in recruitment or giving out info to applicant.
So your saying maybe they’ve advertised a job that hasn’t actually been confirmed with the union?Total rubbish to be blunt, there MAY be a situation where consultation is being held with the trade union to increase the number of staff in the role you’ve applied for, which is awaiting the formal agreement between NWR and union.

or perhaps the Union is deciding whether training for your role can resume so they have held off giving you the job and a start date?
I was emplyed elsewhere but have been on hold at home as I cannot train at the moment

That’s what it sounds like. Certainly when I was involved in recruiting staff (not for NWR admittedly), we’d not advertise the roles until all consultations were completed. Things can change very quickly in this industry and it makes no sense advertising and interviewing for a job, just to have it pulled at the last minute. So your saying maybe they’ve advertised a job that hasn’t actually been confirmed with the union?
Very strange, I’ll be gutted if they say I’m unsuccessful after such a long waitThat’s what it sounds like. They’ve interviewed for the job, so it’s likely just a formality I’d imagine.Very strange, I’ll be gutted if they say I’m unsuccessful after such a long wait
Please explain hahai think there is the wrong end of several sticks being grasped here!
What role is this for please? This is what I got
Unfortunately this role is held by our unions, so we cannot move on it until they give us the green light to continue. I’ve spoken with the hiring manager this morning and he’s confirmed he’s trying to move this along as quickly as possible, and expects an update within the next 2-3 weeks. Unfortunately, Covid-19 has prevented this moving any quicker.
Sorry. I can't help on that query.Operative Signal maintenance
If there was a **** up, surely they would just give me the unsuccessful email?
Well that wouldn't be the first time. I participated in negotiations, at local TU level, about four new signalling jobs, but awaited further info from management. Suddenly, after discussion at higher level, these four new jobs were withdrawn and replaced by a re-org of relief staff in the area. As a result extra jobs appeared on the displacement notices that local TU reps knew nothing about. So I’ve found out the role was built and advertised but had never been consulted in with the union. I will find out more on the 11th August, fingers crossed.
Sorry to hear. Have they indicated how the interview went? I know there’s no job now, but it would be worth enquiring how the interview went both to aid you in future interviews, or to work with in case there’s another suitable job they can offer?Yep job has been withdrawn am absolutely gutted have waited months for nothing!
