I know this isn't on the Fen Line, but Sandy also still has it's NSE totem (in fact, it has two: one at the top of the station road and one outside the station itself). It's funny that WAGN/FCC had the base painted, but did nothing else with the totem. The 'Sandy' part is looking rather grubby now.

Anywhos... from the pictures earlier in the thread, it it does look pretty neat what they have done. I won't be travelling towards King's Lynn until around late July, but it'll be interesting to see if these 'refurbs' spread among more of the stations along the Fen Line in the mean time.

Just to point something out - NSE had all of the columns painted red, there was no black and white extras on them.

Brilliant idea

As mentioned nse still very much alive down to Moor gate

That said it's a throw back to the 80s down there along with trains that have a horrible yellow pink brown interior with the outsides looking in a very sorry state

717s can't come soon enough

Anyway time for a trip up to Downham Market to relive some nostalgia! One of the best most distinctive logo designs and livery our railways have had

I feel they've rather undersold Chris Green's significance in that article! You'd have thought "the man that created Network SouthEast" would be more fitting!

Just reminded me of an incident in the 1980s on a Southend bound train once with a passenger waving an NSE map at a ticket inspector and insisting that it showed where his nice new London travelcard was valid.

Would the Way Out sign have had the strip along the bottom? Not sure the ones in my old neck of the woods did. But it's a long time ago!
