Compulsory ticket area:

So if your meeting someone off of a tram you can't stand on the platform now. Ludicrous.....

If you read the wording on the sign it says

"Please retain your ticket for inspection on the platform after you alight from the tram"

I think this is just a legal device that enables them to check the tickets of people getting off the tram and penalty fare them if they do not have a valid ticket or pass.
Without this sign, persons found without ticket/pass after getting off the tram could not be touched as they are then in a public place.

I don't think they intend to prosecute pedestrians for walking past the stops!

It must just be about people observed to get off trams by an inspector on the platform. Otherwise how would potential passengers get to the ticket machine without risk of being fined?

No idea :?

According to the Derby Bus depot website, Notts + Derby are expecting 10 double deckers from NCT in October, which I can only assume are omnidekkas that are being displaced by the E400s on order. Will be interesting to see which ones go

Hint here perhaps?
TURQUOISE 76, 78
On Mondays to Fridays, the service 76 journeys will be replaced by journeys on service 78 along Nuthall Road, Hilcot Drive, Minver Crescent and Sherborne Road.

Brand new double deck buses, with audio announcements and free Wi-Fi are currently in build and will be introduced from the autumn.

That always reads as daft to me - the ones on Line 1 have them too - and quite a lot of the stops in the city centre are footpaths too...
I think, when you look at how the revenue protection officers work, they tend to gather by the doors of an incoming tram and ticket check as and after people alight. I think it is likely a legal get around to stop people being able to challenge them with "I'm in a public place so I don't need to". Common sense and law are often very different!

Yourbus appear to have a silvery white Ciatario been on the s1/x36 today. Does anyone know if this is a loan or acquisition.

You have to admire the effort that goes into planning Yourbus routes. Go to www.trentbarton.co.uk, select a route map, copy completely, check timetable and ensure their buses run 2 or 3 min in front of Trents. Sorted!

Does that mean Yourbus driver crisis is over then?

And why compete on the 4? There is overcrowding on Trents Rainbow 1 - which incidentally serves Heanor where Yourbus are based. Why not focus on building a network in an area - so they get known - rather than just spurs out from Derby & Nottingham that really end nowhere and end up providing no onward links.

Something on the TB website recently announcing extra buses for the i4.

Yes that started last week. It's now every 7/8 minutes to Sandiacre and every 15 to Derby. Also its every 5 minutes Sandiacre - Nottingham in the morning peak. They've "refurbished" and repainted some solars (see here), some of which are almost 3 years older than the solars the Tempo SR's replaced 2 years ago! Lets just give them headrests and wifi, they won't notice the 9 year age difference

So another four buses per hour between the city, QMC and Bramcote. That road will be a solid line of buses soon!

The Agency Drivers are being offered perm Jobs , plus they have 7 Drivers that will be trained up by time this route starts.

All is not well at Skills, Drivers walking out left right and centre. They wanted them to do 15 hour shifts on National Express, and Drivers that did Nx work were not payed the Nx rates.

TB really do seem to have scaled back on the new bus orders over the last couple of years. Its got to be about time they got replaced the grotty solars on the Skylink, the indigos could do with a refurb too

Y4 will use the Beastmarket Hill stops , rather than Friar Lane as im told the only slots left on Friar Lane are the top stop (Skylink and 90 STOP). It will be the stop outside the Bank Pub. The only other bus that uses that stop is the L64 to Lark Hill.

It could cause trouble as NCT complained to the Council about Premiere Travel using Enviro 300's on the 64 as they said they were to long for that stop!

Will also be fun if Yourbus use the same stop as the i4 in Broadmarsh as Bartons think they own the place and dump buses everywhere. And it's worse know that they have lost the lay over bays to the 12 Council Solo sr's that park up overnight.

The return of regular buses to the bottom Beastmarket Hill stop could cause issues as when it the 13 and 14 were still using it you'd often get hold ups where a 1/2/3 was blocking the road as the previous 1/2/3 was still occupying that stop and the 13/14 prevented it from pulling in behind

I thought the S1 was tendered, I didn't realise it was commercial!

I thought the S1 was tendered, I didn't realise it was commercial!

I think the back story is that there was quite a high profile campaign locally to keep the y36 on the Bramcote lane route, but the alignment of the interchange meant that the buses would have to do a lap of Beeston to go up station road. Coupled with YB's confidence that the high loadings compared to NCT 36 was due to the route, rather than the difficulties NCT were having on the diversionary route, and lower frequency. The S1 was a move to capitalise on this. I don't think I've seen more than 3 passengers on one yet.

Oh ok thanks, I'd just assumed it was tendered as I thought that even YB would know that an MB citaro making a profit on that kind of route has a very low probability of occurring!

Just do what NCT and Trent Barton do on Friar Lane - abandon the buses in the middle of the road. It's a pain trying to get up there on me bike during the evening pike with all the buses double parked (usually headed by an i4), the council really need to remove the car parking bays from it as often one bus moving off allows the rest to slot in/pull away properly.
