Yourbus will be happy with that decision! Is the 11 council funded? If it is then the council are happy with YB running it commercialy.

I heard from an unofficial source Skylink's were going to use Indigio buses in the not too distant future
It's no surpise their buses get wrecked so quick when drivers inisit on driving up and over curbs etc they are terrible for it. Must happen at least once a journey!

Can someone shed some light on what exactly is happening with the timetable on the Black Cat/11?
Now I've been told that the number 11 (ex Felix) will stop running up to the Shipley View Estate and Ilkeston Hospital after 5.30 (so that would 5pm departure from Derby). Now this doesn't seem right to me. Firstly, those that finish work in Derby at 5.30 or after, so catch the 6pm departure to the estate or hospital would have to either catch the 6pm to Ilkeston town and then connect with another bus, or wait until the 6.30 departure and alight at the hospital. Also, the Trent Black Cat's last departure is at 7.30 leaving just the Felix run. Those who catch these later buses wouldn't beable to get to the hospital unless they connected in Ilkeston.

If you look at the Ilkeston Flyer timetable online you will find the 525pm & 555pm departures from Derby run through to Langley Mill along Heanor Road past the Shipley View Estate (and the Hospital).

Never understood how these 'bus wars' benefit passengers. I live in London where there's no bus wars and no competition. Just a unified bus service with a unified price structure (£1.20 with your Oyster card). Plus an easy to use web site.
Seems to work fine.

London is also the only region in the country where bus patronage has increased significantly in the last 10 years..

London is the only area to have very very deep pockets to pay for it...... I dont understand why it needs so much money if the buses are always full...
Drivers' wages are higher to attract enough - and congestion causes a lot more buses to be needed than otherwise.
Of course Tfl gets a large chunk of its income from Central Government (though this is falling).

Bus patronage has also increased significantly in Nottingham, primarily because NCT & TB are so good. I really don't know why the likes of Yourbus bother, when I lived in Nottingham I would never use anything but NCT, TB & Net

Trent Barton are fairly good as what they do - though unreliable (on Rainbow 1 anyway). I can't recall ever having an uncomfortable journey on TB and 95% of their drivers do an excellent job with the resources they have.
My biggest qualm is the continuing cutting back of services by both Trent Barton & Local Councils. By the end of the year our village (population over 5,000) will have just two routes - both Trent Barton and we are only 4 miles from Nottingham City Centre.
By then our local bus stop will be just Rainbow 1 and will have lost its direct buses to Ilkeston, Beeston, Bulwell, Hucknall & the Queens Medical Centre. And there isn't even a Tesco Extra on the Rainbow 1 network!
Just my opinion of course.

I thought that was a Tesco extra - but when I searched Tesco stores it isn't listed as one just as a 'Superstore' (like Heanor)! The nearest Tesco EXTRA to Alfreton is Clay Cross!

If I had to guess, I'd say Nuthall, although I can't figure out what the second TB route is (unless you count Rapid 1, which bypasses the village anyway). Google reckons a 30 minute walk from Nuthall to the tram, but that's the road route, and I bet there's a much quicker walk across the fields.
The old route to Beeston and QMC (and Bulwell/Hucknall?) was the 555. I remember catching that to QMC as a kid growing up in Eastwood.

Correct! Trents Amberline serves the extreme West end of the village - while I am at the extreme east (city) end of the village.
We also have Doyles 331 - that is being cut back to a couple of peak runs next week. And a tender L33 run by Nottingham Community Transport that was temporarily extended in September to run until 11 December. IF that goes the fnal links to Bulwell & Queens will be lost.
When I move here in 1986 we had Trent running the 230,231,332,333 which are now largely the rainbow 1. The 331 (2 hourly) - soon to almost vanish. The 357(hourly) - now a much curtailed 27. And Stevensons of Uttoxeter 39 Eastwood-Beeston every 90minutes. The 39 was changed in 1987 to take me to school, bought out by NCT, who eventally passed it to Trent as their 229 who passed it to Notts & Derby as the 555, who eventually curtailed it to peak only with Dunnline running a tender (3 journeys) 535. Notts & Derby then pulled out and Dunnline took the peaks. Both were then withdrawn and the 229 reintroduced as a Doyles tender. They lost it to Yourbus, who altered it a few times, which led to a 8 weeek commercial Y29 and Doyles tender 330 which was farcical. The two were then merged back into Yourbus Y29 which went last month.
We also had links to QMC & Bulwell on Dunnline tender 170 that then passed to Doyles 228 then to Yourbus. This was withdrawn last August & the L33 replaced it last Autumn.
Complicated!! But basically we are now facing the worst level of service seen in 30 years - unless you want to travel on a Sunday!!!

Worth writing to your MP about?
Can't remember which route it was but one of the yourbus routes from your neck of the woods to QMC was being stopped. Suggested to Trent about extending the R1 from the Viccy Centre to QMC as a link/replacement but I doubt anything came of it.
edit - might have been the Y29? Are you in Gloria's patch or are you further west?

Fascinating stuff, I never realised these things changed hands so much!! I did think about Amberline but I've only ever done the route once and that was quite a few years ago now. Knew it went through Kimberley but wasn't sure which route it took towards Hucknall. Should have taken a look I guess!
I moved away from Eastwood in 1999 just before starting secondary school, so I'm less familiar with that side of the city now.
