From this December's timetable change, the only regular through Northern services at Newcastle will be the Middlesbrough semifasts every other hour with Carlisle stoppers, with Carlisle semifasts and Hexham, Morpeth and Nunthorpe stoppers terminating at Newcastle.
(Off-topic, but I hadn't realised how bad the connections would be under the draft timetable in some North East cases – Hexham local stations to Middlesbrough would go from a direct service to a 52 minute wait at Newcastle.)
I wonder what the rationale is behind the change?
