sorry - it has the last few days haven't exactly been ones to remember, I'm having to go through this stupid incident at school over this massive fight that the fuzz are now involved in, which saw my mate beat up some guy so much he dislodged his eye

In fact http://www.railcar.co.uk/features/destination/northern2.htm looks like the very blind you saw.

Ive never seen that blind list fitted to any NorthernRail unit, I drive 142s nearly every day and its always either exclusivly FNW or ATN blinds fitted to them, although these days some exFNW units are running with ATN blinds and vice-versa (sometimes different blinds at opposite ends of the same unit)

And I might be hedging it here, but I dont think that Northern have used their own blind either

good! If I ran a decent TOC, the last thing I'd be worrying about would be blinds

TBH I always forget to change the manual one's anyway. Got asked once on a southwest bound HoW service at Pen Y bont if I was going to Swansea or Manchester as the blind said.:???:

on the GCRN's class 117, one end has a G.E. blind, the other a Midland one. The closest I can get to the GC's originals are Leicester at one end, and Nottingham at the other! There's even places on it like Bournville, which is a bit odd as no trains turn back there

Check your knowledge again then repeat it. Past few years trains have terminated at Bournville, did a shunt and continued. Ran as 150s during engineering works mainly around Autumn.

I stand corrected! mind you, you have better local knowledge of the West Mids than I do

Since when has TOC destinations defined the North/South divide. That's like saying Birmingham is in Wales since it has Arriva Trains Wales in albeit half get cancelled at Wolves.

Actually, Miles, I'm not one bit complaining about the Northern Rail Nottingham - Leeds route, as it will up Alfreton's service from hourly to half hourly, so more trains and less time to wait! 8)

If you aren't happy with where the North and South starts and ends, then petition the Government to redefine the regions, and stop arguing on here!

I wasn't complaining about their new route, I am more than pleased actually.
