Of Northern s 3 cars is that j4 done with 755, 756 757, 758 left?
K

Excluding 158755 which is now at Kilmarnock, 158757/758/759 are the only three car 158s still waiting to be refurbished.

156482 was due back at Allerton tonight from CREWE.

Presumably it's been repainted, seeing as it's already had PRM mods.

Thanks for that, most useful!

Seems that 319382 has also been through Wolverton, now in the new Arriva Northern livery.

Phase 1 at least anyway - all still due to receive new seats etc in phase 2.

Has it been confirmed the 158s will get new seats? I've not heard it confirmed, only that it was an option being considered.

Is there any news on replacement internal lighting on the Sprinters and 319s mentioned in the franchise agreement?

And here it was earlier today at St Helens Junction bound for Liverpool.

Any news on 319370 and 319424 entering service? Both are at Allerton having arrived after refurb some weeks ago.

With regard to the 155s, I see that the one "refurbished" example is not indicated as "Fully Refurbished". Is the assumption that new seats will be fitted in the future, as is rumoured to be a possibility with the 158s?

If so, I hope some consideration is given to improving the seat pitch by a couple of centimetres, even if it does reduce the number of seats by 8+ on paper...

You could always stick a de-cabbed, de-toiletted 153 in the middle to make up for it! ;)

319370 is in new northern livery I believe

Thanks, I've added that to the list.

I'm not sure to be honest with you, so I'll hold off on marking 155346 as "fully refurbished" for the time being.

319379 must have gone in very recently, it was in service on Sunday as I saw it at Oxford Road. Presumably that was its last day out before heading to Wolverton.

Also 150140 at Crewe seems an odd choice to send in, its already PRM modded when I had it a couple od weeks back and looks like it at a repaint at the same time as was very shiny. As the 156 there has also been done before and the 319s suddenly starting appearing fully branded maybe there's been a change of their policy with the livery and all the already modified units get painted to quickly bump the numbers of painted units and spread the new brand a bit.... Or of course it could be sheer coincidence!

I could have sworn that it did 2220 Lime Street to Victoria, last Tuesday evening (15/8) - which would have meant that it would have worked the following day, too, of course.
Could be wrong, I often am.

Something interesting about 150136 which has happened since being in FNW/Northern livery and now ARN livery.

It always has its side metal window surrounds painted!

Compare the above pics to: https://flic.kr/p/XATt6Q

And when it was in Northern livery:

https://flic.kr/p/fxaySj (150137)

https://flic.kr/p/ags38y (150136)

A worthless observation (possibly!) but I see the trend continues in another livery!

Do we have to be setting up a spreadsheet or coding system for all of the refurb jobs being done... each one seems to come out with a different amount of jobs done.
I am assuming the ones not having seat covers changed are to be done at a later date. If they're putting new seats into the 158s they could in theory then put those seats into a 156?

Well the 5 x 156s arriving from Scotrail could certainly do with newer seats. Also the ex-Wessex 158s have the same type of seating as the ex-FNW 156s so if there's any seats which need replacing and the ones on the ex-Wessex 158s are in good enough condition it would seem sensible enough to use them there.

I really don't like the new yellow/light blue/purple 'n' roundels, I preferred the Arriva turquoise/pink/pastel purple, plus the 'by arriva' looks really tacky and rubbish!
Altho I suppose its like the old Northern in that there was several variations before the final livery

What's it called? It's called Cumbernauld
Regarding the logos and the name of the operator on the side of the train, when I was at primary school many moons ago, I was taught that for names of organisations/companies, etc should always begin with a capital letter.

It looks very lazy and sloppy with the current design.

PS For those who are wondering if capital letters really do matter, here is something I stumbled upon online a few years ago (I cannot find the link). The exact same sentence, one with capital letters regarding names, and one without.

1) "Tom helped his Uncle Jack off a horse"
2) "Tom helped his uncle jack off a horse"

The second sentence without capital letters gives a totally different meaning.
Capital letters in names of organisations and companies are very important.

I like the roundels and the lower case name.

Its part of showing a different company running the franchise. You can only tinker with the name Northern so much.

Old people have to realise that the old way of advertising/brand exposure has changed. A very simple lowercase n (which could be argued isnt a n at all, merely the opening of a tunnel) is effective.
