Thank you, I did fail this interview back in September but as you say you need to learn from it, accept your errors and come back stronger. I now have a date with the stage 1 assessments and let's see how that goes. I got everything crossed.

That's the right attitude to have I failed for picc in aug time then passed interview for Vic sept, then failed stage 1 oct so always looking as you say to get that bit further and finally you will make it, I was close to stage 2 as failed MT4.1 with good passes on remainder, but them are the lessons you learn m8 , there is alot of really good lads on here, I'm also on hold for ScotRail so who knows what 2014 will bring for all of us

Nah, had mine 10.30 Thursday. I do believe its for a different course and depot to those who had interviews on Tuesday.

I wouldn't like to say kenni, what does it say on your Northern account? This whole process is being rushed through as some candidates were receiving their emails saying they haven't short listed at the initial sift, at the same time I'm being told I've passed my interview.
Keep your fingers crossed and let's see what happens mate.

At least the MT test has gone now and so has the Reactions test (which I failed on last year). Of course all been replaced with what seem to be equally tricky tests. Christmas has been cancelled in my house, I'm busy prepping :)

anyhow...good luck to those that did get through.

Merry X-mas.

Bye

Are you still here? You've made a goodbye speech every day now for nearly a week!

"Adieu, Auf Wiedersehen... goodbye cruel world!" (knelt on one knee, back of hand on forehead).

If you had made it into the job, you'd come accross a big thing in the railways at the minute called "non-technical skills". A year or two ago the RSSB realised that it took more than a repertoire of impressive experiences and technical abilities to make a good train driver. I think that these will be looked out for during an interview. The competencies assessed in interview form a framework from which several qualities are gleaned. But as you're not one to listen to constructive criticism - I expect you'll stick to your guns.

Regarding the emergency question - if you think you can pull it off - why not make it up if you don't have a real life example ?

I have spoken to several colleges over the years who have admitted that they made up their answer.

Indeed even my own answer was overexaggurated.

Making stuff up is the modern way into getting a job.

I received the 'no' email at 10.09 this morning, had my interview for picc Thursday 19th December. Have asked for feedback. Well, that was my 3rd interview for driving I have failed, I am not going to give up I will just have to change a few things I think.

I'm not sure how it went to be honest, we were told that we "should" hear the results by this afternoon but they couldn't guarantee it as things are quite rushed at the moment. I haven't had any emails today, so I have a nervy weekend ahead of me.

Just learnt a valuable lesson today. Never stop checking the websites for vacancies as the alerts simply do not work. If it wasn't for checking in here I would have missed the Wigan vacancy. I would have been devastated add I knew it was coming up and was waiting for the email alert as per northern advice. Be warned lol. Just glad I got it in. Fingers crossed I have tinkered it to at least have a shout at the interview this time.

Does the driver training only take place at Bolton / Leeds?
I wondered if they also do this in Manchester considering the number of staff they are currently recruiting.

Ah ok, thanks 175001.

Has anyone else received a 'yes / no' mail following the pre-Christmas interviews yet?
It all seems to have gone very quiet.

I spoke to someone in Northern HR just before Christmas and they said that not much would happen until the New Year. I am guessing that with the new vacancies coupled with the tests to organise from the openings before Christmas, it will take them a while to plough through it as it didn't sound like there were many people doing the sift.
