Yeah the online one, they were pretty quick with the Leeds one

It concerns me that they haven't sent them out yet. It will be seven weeks till the proposed start date on this coming Monday. In this period they need to send out and score online tests, sift, interview and assessments (not forgetting Christmas break). Cutting it fine aren't they?!

Very , although with the Leeds one they did interviews, assessments etc in a space of 3 weeks, but still cutting it fine , I'm on a months notice and will lose pay if I leave early

Oh yeah, I've seen them rush things through in the past, I just like seeing some kind of activity. I'm lucky in the sense that I only need to serve one weeks notice, which is rare these days.
Let's hope something happens soon.

They are not doing online assessments just doing interviews I was told. They should be sending out emails this week. Hope I get a chance

Blimey! Sounds feasible to me though. The online test is only a tool to reduce numbers going into the sift and the Man Vic job was only online for one day so numbers aren't likely to be that high anyway. Ah well fingers crossed and good luck.

Has anyone heard anything back from this latest round of trainee driver adverts either a yes or a no? I haven't heard a thing myself.

Nothing yet. Although I applied for the Barrow vacancy, I don't think there was a January start date stated in that vacancy, just the Man Vic one?

Either way I haven't heard anything yet. Hopefully sometime this week :)

Had a lovely e-mail pop into my inbox today inviting me to an interview on 17th in Manchester. I applied for the Man Vic role, so those who did should hopefully be hearing from them today / soon!

Still crossing but not holding my breath :(

But one shall not give up

No don't give up, I have seen them stagger this kind if email before. For example interviews in the 18th may only be sent out tomorrow.

Hope for the best.

Is your cv a major factor in the sifting??

I wouldn't like to say to be honest, I've always enclosed an updated CV with any application I make but I'm unsure if they even get read. Lots of application forms to go through probably keeps them busy enough.
Why do you ask?

Just curious as like you said lots to get through and not many companies accepted them now as they can be tweaked to the position etc, something must flag up somewhere as they won't have time to trawl through thousands of apps

So it's interview before all the test thingies now!? Colour me confused! When did that change?

I thought with Northern it was application > online test > psychometric tests/interview > final interview...?

Well for Leeds last month it was app then online test etc, but man vic job apparently you don't have to do the online test

I was thinking about that too. It seems a bit strange that they would have interviews first....

Just curious too, because I can't remember seeing it anywhere, what is the pay like for a trainee driver at Northern?

Northern have done it this way for quite a while now. Presumably because it reduces the amount of assessments they need to pay for.

Very low last time I checked... Somewhere around 18 or 19 thousand a year

£18600ish IIRC. It will be egg and chips for tea for a while if successful :)

9 to 12 months on the training rate IIRC, over half of the period you will be on shifts as well

Indeed. But I think most people would work for JSA if it meant they were accepted on a drivers course with full employment at the end

Not heard anything back yet... though if I'm honest my application wasn't the greatest.

I think a small part of me will be relieved if I get a "no"... I need to give 2 months notice, at the busiest time of the year, and my boss is so nice that I would feel terrible...

Having a conscience sucks sometimes!!
