Must be a problem with one of the 319's today.

The 06:35 SHJ to LIV (ex 06:02 from MCV) is a 150 today.

Thought this working was a 319 diagram?

Still booked for a 319.

But it's amended this week as the 319 can't stable overnight at Man Vic Reversing Siding.

0720 MCV onwards still a 319.

The Northern Power house was having issues yesterday, alright going one way but coming back to Manchester it was dying, at around 18:30 we had three of them at Vic! Sent one back as 2T33 otherwise we would of had a 12 car to go on the 19:02 :lol:

I presume its still pretty broken from yesterday as it was pan down for a while at Vic, gearbox faults

Just been on 319220 the floors have been done in lino as per other 319's, also has the same universal toilet as other 319's, first class has been shrunk to the same as the /4's.

What is odd is some seats are in FGW intercity coverings.

319364 failed yesterday in Man Vic siding whilst waiting to form 1402 to Liverpool. 319386 arrived on 1320 ex-Liverpool and formed an express to Liverpool calling at Earlestown only. Was hacking it down the chat moss.

Todays 1800 LLS to Preston is a DMU; usually a 319. It left Liverpool 16 mins late ..presumably because of a failure of a 319 as mentioned earlier in the thread ?

I believe there was a power supply problem or the knitting was down between Lime Street and Wigan. I travelled from Parkway to Lime Street on the 17:15 East Midlands service. There was a double header 319 sat outside the Liverpool end of Parkway and another double header just by Mossley Hill. All looked like they were getting sent back to Allerton rather early. Another was sat in Platform 9 of Lime Street for what I think was a good 2 hours. Don't recall which ones.

This was made worse by what was described as a lineside equipment fault at Parkway. There was also a sign there saying no Blackpool service due to a problem with the power supply. (The Blackpools are of course not 319's anyway).

The 06:02 MCV to LIV service this morning was a 150 yet again for some reason.

There were also OHL problems at Wavertree yesterday.

Wonder when that will be fixed?

It's not broken! Planned engineering possession!

As I said before planned engineering possession all week which means the reverser is blocked to electric traction.

Anyone know what happens to the unit that works 2H48 1755 Lime St-Oxford Road (arr 1904) ?
It's the diagram that starts at Man Vic and works Warrington's all day...

I could be wrong, but it looks like it might go ECS to Victoria via Eccles (5J48) and then in service to Blackburn via Todmorden (2J61). Can't see where else it would go.

I reckon that's the unit off the Buxton arrival though? A 319 couldn't go to Blackburn...

2F33 0838 Manchester Victoria - Liverpool Lime Street is always a 2 car diesel. 2J24 0720 Liverpool Lime Street - Manchester Victoria forms 2F37 0902 Manchester Victoria - Liverpool Lime Street.

EDIT: 2J03 (Buxton) arrives on P3 at 1906 from the east. 2H48 (Liverpool) arrives on P3 two minutes earlier from the west. 5J48 is due to depart westwards from P3 at 1915. It would be impossible for 2J03 to depart as 5H48 without either coupling to 2H48 first, or 2H48 departing before 1915. Yesterday, 2H48 was thirteen minutes late yesterday giving 2J03 time to depart as 5H48 before 2H48 arrived, but 5H48 departed 12 minutes late, ten minutes after 2H48 arrived. Without other evidence to hand, I'd suggest 2J03 and 2H48 couple to form 5H48.

And it appears the 17:13 LIV to MIA service tonight is a 150, whilst it was a 319 yesterday.

And cramped too.

Must be a 319 problem surely.

Thought all LIV to MIA services were 319 worked now.

Allegedly heat expansion knocked the system out.

Heat expansion? It's never got past "warm" yet this year up here.
It you add up the number and type of failures in the past couple of months (train and/or infrastructure), it hasn't been very impressive.
Considering the 319s seemed to have been working very reliably on Thameslink for many years.
Phase 1 (class 350s) didn't seem to give the same problems.

The TPE 350s themselves were incredibly unreliable at the start, though judging by the lack of recent posts on here they seem to have settled down now. Problems with both classes could be down to the staff being unfamiliar with them. Roger Ford's Golden Spanner articles illustrate how the reliability of the same class can vary wildly between TOCs.

Not sure what you are saying by that but it was very warm in Liverpool yesterday, all the electric services between Liverpool and Wigan were off at least by 17:00 and there were signs up in South Parkway saying all Parkway to Blackpool services were off (Probably as part of the disruption).

There were 2 double sets of 319's queued up between Parkway and Mossley Hill (A mate was driving one). As far as I am aware they were taken out of service because the electrification wasn't working, not because the units weren't.

At Parkway there were further delays to all services caused by "failures to lineside equipment".

Didn't sound like the units themselves were failing to me.

The first train affected yesterday (11 June) was 13:16 Lime St - Manchester Airport, terminated at Wavertree Technology Park due to "no power in overhead". Passengers (including me) evacuated, those bound for Manchester sent back to Lime St. to use services via CLC route. At the time, train crew had no info. about cause of problem.

(Wonder if it was a repeat of an incident last week, caused by bird's nest connecting 25 kV to earth ?)

Thanks that makes sense, I was working on the basis that 2H48 was a 319 which it obviously isn't as none of the Warrington diagrams have been converted (yet). I'm guessing it would be a 156 at present
