then substitute for 156s on Liverpool-Blackpool using the next ones terminating at Preston until Preston-Blackpool is complete.
That was suggested on another forum and the conclusion was there's 4 diagrams on Liverpool South Parkway-Blackpool services, while running a connecting Preston-Blackpool shuttle using a single diagram won't work, so that potentially leaves only 2 units released. It could also cause a lot of inconvenience when people return from the Blackpool illuminations on late trains especially if they have an onward connection at Liverpool so may cost the rail industry a lot in taxi fares? Not to mention the more obvious losing the direct Liverpool South Parkway (for Liverpool Airport) to Blackpool service may result in a number of suitcases having to be dragged around large interchange stations.
