Could Northern have given EMT a 158 as a temporary thing until they get those 156's from northern?
If it happened, if it happened permenantly, I would wonder what EMT would refurb it to......
Same as their other 158s, but they'd probably do it in house at Neville Hill.

The route via Alfreton was shut so Northern and EMT coupled their sets together and diverted via Derby as few Northern crew sign the diversion!

Congratulations to both EMT and Northern for attempting to maintain some form of service, and possibly quite a unique one at that.
I imagine Nottingham - Leeds and Norwich - Liverpool would have run coupled from Nottingham - Sheffield, and visa-versa.
It does happen rarely. A GC 180 ran coupled to a HT 180 from King's Cross - Doncaster at one point.
I may well be wrong, but I think that the 180's didn't run together in the end as they failed to couple up succesfully at Doncaster.
