Quite a few of us for man as well, man seems to be moving slowly but not sure over Wigan and Liverpool
I passed assessments for the Northern Liverpool depot drivers job back in February & have been in the talent pool ever since. In the meantime I applied for a mainline freight driver position with Freightliner and have my start date next month so can't complain!

I'm another one for Wigan. The lack of communication is frustrating, just an acknowledgement that we're still in the mix would be welcome. I assume there are good reasons why there has been no action, the franchise renewal and electrification may have a bearing on things. They do say that the extra 700 journeys per day are only by the end of 2019!
What sticks in my mind was that they said they were recruiting for March, didn't say which year though.
I can wait, the drivers job is what I want and I'm still glad that I made the grade.

I recently went through the recruitment process with northern, don't loose hope as the railway is extremely slow. When they have any news they will update u. Everything is governed by the training courses, 12 people on a course that run every 3 or 4 months.
I passed all the assessments/interviews for depot driver at Blackpool back in December. Was subsequently put into the talent pool awaiting a position, but nothing happened and after six months Northern withdrew the position and closed the application. I hope everyone sat waiting on here has a better experience than myself.

Don't know anymore to be honest. Just staying positive until I've been told I've been removed from the pool. Hopefully that won't happen and we'll get a place on a course. Be nice to know how many are left waiting and for what depots

wont make much or any difference whether franchise is nearly up or not, whoever wins franchise takes over the existing operation and link sizes and traincrew requirements will initially be the same across the transition. Rumours are around that one of the reasons why their taking on so many drivers this year is to do with the fact they need to be over compliment by a certain amount before the franchise ends as a condition of the franchise agreement so rather than take on less drivers if anything theyll take on more as a result of the franchise being nearly up.

Northern seem to be putting a few guards through the psycho tests lately, some are to start driver training this month.

Ive put in for the Train Presentation Job at Manchester Victoria plus waiting on the TPO job at Newton Heath to. Well the Recruitment will know im keen if nothing else lol. 4 weeks since the Newton Heath job closed so expect to hear anytime now
Just accepted a job as a Conductor with Northern Rail. Rather chuffed to say the least. Start training at the start of October. Interviews were less than 4 weeks ago so the speed caught me by surprise. Anyone else on this course as I know it's a full induction?

Congratulations, I'm 3 months in and loving it and i'm sure you will do too.
just got an email from northern saying the depot drivers position I applied for passed the tests and interviews has now been placed on hold and my interview expired. Still cant get my head around why they would advertise jobs , put people through all the tests and then leave them waiting for 5 months only to tell them thanks but no thanks
That is exactly what happened to myself for a depot drivers position at Blackpool a month or so ago. It seems very unethical to give the impression that you have passed for a job and kept waiting for six months only to be told thanks but no thanks. It's a pretty lousy way to treat people in fact.
