When I went to Brighton today to catch the 1W34 1305 Brighton to Bedford which runs Monday to Friday (a service which I catch regularly), I noticed that it was formed of two Class 387 units and not the usual formation of two Class 319 units which has been running since December last year: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/G73533/2016/07/11/advanced

Does anyone know if this is a permanent change due or if it was temporary substitution due to a faulty 319 unit?

It would be sad if there were no more Class 319's to Brighton, as I was under the impression that they would be around on the BML until the December timetable change.

Thanks

Services are disrupted on the route and special reduced Timetable in operation.

I thought that timetable change only applied to Southern though.

Whatever the case, I have managed to track down a Class 319 BML working for today using RTT + Railcam and I have posted details on the "Trains you've seen working" thread!

This working might be set in stone on weekdays until the end of Southern's revised timetable. Fingers crossed!

The train mentioned is now booked to be 387's. Don't forget the 700's started in service today on 3 diagrams (however one was covered by 387's) so that has released 5 387's & 2 377's which in turn have displaced 319's. 2 x 700's will come every 2 weeks for the next few weeks then later in the year 2 every week. 9 319's leave TL week on 23rd July 8 going to Northern and 1 to Northampton.

I was hoping to see the 319 at Bedford on a week day in august. From what I understand, this is the only weekday working north of Luton using a 319?

There are still a lot during the end of the am peak and after the pm peak to Bedford, as they need to get to Cauldwell Depot.

The diagrams on Thameslink are no longer valid as part of the 700 introduction they are changing every two weeks which means you can no longer rely on the information you have.

319s are being removed from the BML asap as the 319s as the 12 car 700/1 are only able to operate on the BML services (won't be used on the Sutton/Kent services due to length). They are pushing (initially) 387s onto 319 diagrams resulting in the changes you've seen.
