I suspect its been delayed with the regulated fares changes, with the DVD being a low priority.

I've not received it yet despite ordering it before Christmas - but have received an "invoice" from TSO telling me it's "not yet published" but that they've taken my money anyway.

No, the Rights of a producer of any original work are not affected by the inclusion of any Copyright statement or symbol, nor by any date which may appear in such a statement.

I ordered it from my local bookshop on 19 December - they told me when I called in today that they were currently expecting it to be delivered later this week. (TSO had not despatched anything to them since 22 December)

When did you order?

As you may know they are supposed to provide the goods within 30 days or refund promptly, So I assume they feel that they may in this case not be able to meet their obligations.

It was on or about the 16th of December. So that all makes sense.

As the fares CD was not available when you ordered (like me), I assume that TSO refunded the money because they, like many retailers, only charge your credit card when goods are being despatched. Therefore I am hoping that they will send out the CD this week and then re-charge the £15+ to my credit card.

How can they refund you if they haven't taken payment yet?

Don't understand the above comment. You order and pay for the CD in December, the TSO take the money as they expect at the time of ordering to be able to supply the goods within 30 days, then when this becomes doubtful they refund the money, and later recharge the £15 when they are in a position to release the CD. Simple.

I assume that the delay in publication has resulted from the govenment backtracking on the extent of the January fares increase.

What extra information though does Advantix Traveller CD provide over and above that on the National Rail website? The TSO site says that the ATOC is not liable for any errors and that you should check the National Rail website or call National Rail Enquiries for up to date fares information, so what is the point of buying the CD?

Speed. If you want birmingham-manchester you'll want to look at split options, maybe look at booking to a station one stop after new street so that barriers don't retain tickets, etc etc.

and you have the fares and restrictions all in one place and don't have try and work out what restriction code applies and then look it up in the separate list.

You can do zillions of queries on the CD in the time it would take to do that on-line.

Wintonian - sorry for the confusion. When I ordered just before Xmas TSO deducted the charge, sent an invoice (not yet published) and then refunded the charge they had made - all on the same day I think.

The CD is useful as it sets out the restrictions clearly on the outward and return legs of a ticket (assuming it is a return).
For example:
You ask the station ticket clerk for an Off Peak return Doncaster to Hereford at 6.00. You get a response ' are you going on XC via Birmingham? Yes. Ah, Sir, you need an Anytime ticket. You respond politely " are you sure, could you check". Oh, sorry sir, you are correct, the Off Peak ticket is valid on XC. All this without producing your print out of the restriction you happen to have in your pocket. Easier than making a fuss, I suggest, and a lot easier than then claiming back from the TOC.

And, of course, the Fares CD makes interesting reading when you are trying to find the best splits, as suggested above.

I also have just received an email from TSO saying my CD has been dispatched. I didn't re- order this is fulfillment of my order of 20 December. Might even arrive tomorrow - who knows!

In 2010 I ordered a previous NFM when it was already in circulation. It took around a fortnight to get to Ireland as DHL (not requested by me but must be default delivery service) was used. With Royal Mail I've had items posted (ordinary post) on a Friday evening in various parts of England/Wales that have been reached me first thing Monday. I supplied my details correctly when ordering but then I was told DHL couldn't deliver as my 'phone number supplied to them by TSO omitted two digits. The follow-up by 'phone (at my expense) plus e-mail follow-up was a nuisance and quite time-consuming. Despite getting a complimentary disc and courteous responses it has put me off from ordering from TSO again. This was just my experience and I hope any fellow posters will have a positive experience throughout.

I wonder are there any shops where one can just buy the CD there and then and if the appendices such as the Shipping Links Manual (Section D?) is publically available.
