BBC Deputy Political Editor John Pienaar has said May's promises on becoming PM are like a compromise of Cameron's 2015 manifesto and Miliband's 2015 manifesto with a few new ideas thrown in.

That is an opinion of one single individual, who has by his very position at the BBC, a stage on which to trumpet his views that is not afforded to the vast numbers of the electorate.

I have no wish to pass comment upon those stated points of Pienaar, which are from his own perceivement of matters, as that would be falling into his carefully laid ego-trip trap to use his personal view as a discussion platform.

He is welcome to his own point of view and I hold to my own point of view, but I am not crass enough to expect others to waste time on discussing a particular view to which I hold.

I'm inclined to agree with you on this. Feeling a little under the weather yesterday I wiled away some time reading the rolling news or whatever they call it on the Guardian's website. The main story was, of course, the meeting of the NEC, and it was full of twitter quotes from Political Journalists from across the political spectrum. (Why would, or should, the Guardian report what the Sun or Mail are saying?) Apparently journalism is now scrolling through Twitter feeds and reporting as fact anything that these political journalists care to tweet, many of which turned out to be incorrect.

Hello, do we have a hypothetical hit-man from Commissar Corbyn amongst our midst, hypothetical ice-pick at the ready to do the will of his revered master..

My riposte to your demand is that of freedom of expression without the need to be held accountable, as long as my postings stay within the confines if the rules of this website. As long as that remains the case, I will continue to make postings upon this website without grace and favour permissions handed down to me by other website members, which now approaching 20,000 in total to date, that admittedly brings angst, wailing and gnashing of teeth with mental thoughts to certain website members such as "Oh no, he's here again with his flowery phrased postings that none of us can really follow"...:roll:

Lots of what Mrs May said I have to say I agree with. Supporting the most vulnerable in society, "fighting against the burning injustice", recognition that life in the real world is hard, leading a government that is not "driven by the interests of the privileged few", but one that works "for every one of us". These were the themes that really came through in her first speech, and whilst there's a lot I've disagreed with her about over the years (not least her views on immigration), I hope she lives up to what she's said tonight. I hope she leads a more compassionate government than what we've had under Mr Cameron.

So Cameron's legacy was implementing a Lib Dem Manifesto. It wasn't long ago he said this:

And while Cameron himself was keen on same sex marriage, his party only pledged to "consider" it - and indeed well over 100 voted against it.

He couldn't force all MP's to support it, and let's not overlook the fact that it was legalised. I wonder why Labour never got round to doing that between 1997 and 2010?

Marriage equality was Cameron's greatest achievement IMO. When it came to all there areas of equality, he was somewhat lacking. Many of his best policies actually came from the Lib Dems.
